Sorry but no, I don't know how some of you can defend that, this game wants the benefit of being b2p while still charging us for our sub.

How doesn't it make sense ? They are a for profit company, selling a product that people wants. Because you personally don't like it doesn't mean it's a bad business decision.

You're subscription is to give you access to the servers, which you do. It's not there for Square Enix to be your personal slave and for them to lose money because you don't like their business model.

This is ridiculous. I play FFXIV because it is subscription based and with that I expect access to all in-game items (well I will give exception to those obtained with purchases of things like STs, art book etc. Also, I guess the phantasia is a little bit different, but mainly it doesn't bother me so I am not using it in my rant.), content, activities and so on under my subscription. I have never been big into MMOs, or any game involving micro-transactions.

Mainly, it's the Sleipnir mount that annoys me as there does not seem to be (as of yet) any other way to access this. If it will drop from the Primal fight, fair play. As for the other items, I am in two minds about it.
On one hand, we had a chance to unlock the items so that makes it not bother me so much.
On the other, I think it's nice to have those items, not just on my account but others as a sign to say "We were here and we participated.". Now if it was like FFXI (I know I say quite often that this is FFXIV and it shouldn't be like FFXI) where the items from the previous year are obtainable next year, that would be quite nice.

SE are making plenty of money through our subscriptions already and to be honest, I think SE should shove their cash shop.

It is NOT okay, we're all paying our subscriptions here.
The more you accept this kind of garbage, the more, even worse garbage we'll end up with later on.

Our subscriptions are dirt cheap, anyway. Faulting a company for wanting to make money to stay competitive is a little silly. It's not as if they announced that they would be increasing sub fees or that players would be required to purchase X amount from their shop to keep their subs active.

If anything, I consider the sub fee a sort of ankle-high gate to slightly mitigate the amount of crazy that goes on in completely F2P games. It's not as if SE would be asking us to start paying extra for something we were already receiving.

Next thing you know you can buy super pretty exclusive outfits for only 6.99. Rest in peace crafters..


No need to farm EX primals or odin for special looking mounts. Just buy it.
No need to level a weaver to make pretty outfits. Just buy it. T_T
