I guess it'd made more sense if we had more than one job per class.

I can see why gameplay-wise it's useless but the transition from class to job (getting a new name, a shiny stone to carry around, new storyline/mentor, additional skills) helps break up the monoty of leveling a class. I would welcome more variety in cross-class and the like. Radacci's suggestion was cool, I personally love the way FFTA handles cross-class skills, but whatever they wanna do, I hope they keep the core class/job concept we have now. That's all I'm trying to say.

It could also mean that since a completely new job would require a new class it goes without saying so there is no point in mentioning it.

Now the really interesting part is how Ishgard is mentioned as the fourth city state. The implications are of course: new gathering and crafting classes, another adventuring guild, a new housing ward, a new starting zone, a new grand company...etc.

    That's quite big.

i wish they make a specialization for each job, like a lot more trait and player can choose which trait they want to use
so, that warrior and this warrior have something different if they choose not to use some trait
each job will be a bit more unique

This sounds cool (like class trees with how other rpgs do it) but unfortunately Tanking or Healing can only be done so differently and can only really apply to DPS jobs BUT each class/job already does a specific role so in FFXIV ARR it's more like if you want to do X then Level X Job/Class making each job unique already.

PLD = Defensive CD, single target tank ez, flash on mob crowds somewhat effective but not as good as Overpower
WAR = HP Buff stuffs, overpower mob crowds ez

I've yet to cap any healing class so I can't do the comparisons.

Now if you can blink tank like Ninjas in FFXI (even though that was never intended) that'd be a different story.

What I'd like to see out of the expansion with the jobs is more class splits like with ARC/SCH/SMN

GLD -> PLD/SAM (Already defensive base, split into 2 different kind of tanking, maybe SAM can be the 'blink tank' and do some kind of gimp version of Seigan + Third Eye)

What DRK would stem from idk beats me lol.

In case you did not know, back when we had 1.0, in Coerthas there was a small camp that had the Shepard Guild sign right on one of their buildings. That was going to be a new gathering class at the time, but the original development team never went through with their plan for it. No one actually knows how that class would have worked out. With the current crafting classes, I do not think that there could be any more of them. They pretty much hit all the major points for real-world crafting that we have in life. It's just that Goldsmith actually works with bones, so we could have had a Bone crafting class if the development team took that away from Goldsmith.

    3) Expected that the players know that with new jobs also new classes are coming and didn't see a reason to announce the classes to the jobs already

DRK? Probably a new Ishgardian class. As I mentioned above, Ishgard is advertised as the fourth city state, and as we know, quite a lot is required content wise of a city state.
Question is, what classes make sense thematically in Ishgard?

Not to advertise, but I made a thread in the class forum dedicated to this very same question.

I also put a primal thread in the lore forum, and somewhere around here is a thread where the logo is disected.

I think these are the only places where Heavensward is being discussed.
I wouldn't mind one for the zones, either. That weird, floating mountain thingy looks quite intriguing.

The Ishgard castle/city is Alexander, the Holy Primal. It's going to be a repeat of Alex vs. Dragon a la Final Fantasy 9. Please look forward to it.

    It does, doesn't it?

Well, according to a few sites, the chocobo forest is a confirmed location.
