Are relic weapons ever going to be useful?

Atma's are work but very doable. I'm working on my 4th set (have 8). I have a StarDust Rod Nexus and a Artemis Bow Novus with 650 light at the moment toward Nexus. I also have a scroll for my Bravura (15/75 melds) and run a roulette every day for Alex. With hunts buying a map a day isn't that big a deal. I'm looking at these long term. The hardest part of the relic equation is the melding in my view depending upon the stats you want because of cost. Not everyone can afford the materia pricing.

Someone told me the ATMA drop rate was to be increased with 2.4. I don't know if that is true.

It's not just difficulty but longevity as well. Getting atma wasn't hard at all. I soloed every single fate (with the exception of people joining, but I could solo every fate I did and often times would solo them multiple times)

It's the fact that you put so much time, money and effort into making this weapon and there's a spitting image of it sitting in the coil right now that won't take me months to get. Just seems idiotic for how much goes into it and you just get a weapon that's exactly the same as another at every step.

Instead of creating these redundant and idiotic quests for us to chase for weeks at a time they should focus on making a good game. Seems like they're too busy trying to find ways to make a couple of pieces of gear take weeks, ensuring you keep subscribing but that's not the way to do it.

The point, OP is to get you to grind while not paying attention to the fact that the devs aren't doing anything new or actually interesting. It makes you grind out old content you wouldn't have touched otherwise. So yes, for now it's the best weapon but dont' expect this to be the last stage either. I wager they're going to keep adding ridiculous glow effects until at least expansion.

I like what they're doing with the game, but a lot of the content they're working on seems redundant. Adding a new boss fight with horrible items dropped from it shouldn't be something we'd all get excited about. Sure the fights are fun but once you've played them you've played them.

Yeah, but going and getting it out of coil requires you to actually clear T9, which the majority of people can't do.

You either do the endgame content or you grind for a decent weapon to use till you can.

getting a nexus isnt a big effort

relic quest + relic zenith -> less then 1 day
atma quest -> takes average 2 full days/1 weekend
animus quest -> thx to hunt ~1 week
novus -> thx to hunt ~2 weeks for your first novus and like 5 min for your 2nd (since you can pre gather the alexandrite)
nexus -> depending on how much you are willed to farm per day: 2 days until 1 week

all in all the questline should take ~1 month if you start at zero and when you spend your most time with it

Um, what? Atma takes a hell of a lot longer than 2 days. Your time periods are so BS and hell even if you were spot on that's an insane amount of effort for an identical copy of a weapon that exists in the game already.

Just convert days into actual hours of playtime and it's pretty much accurate for some.

Agreed. It took me 2 weeks for Atma, Probably 3 weeks for Animus. 3 weeks for Novus and 2 weeks for Nexus. And by week, I'm talking about 35 hrs/per.

I had actually taken time off of work to play this game. I spent literally every day I could playing this game. If I had free time, it was spent on FF14. Dishes need done? Nope. Laundry? Nope. Place looking like hell? Who cares?

Atma took me FOREVER. And I have yet to complete animus because the goddamn fates take forever to spawn. Then on top of waiting 3 to 6 hours for fates I have to grind out myth....

Why not just get the HA weapon then? If you feel the relic weapon will be a waste of time, then it will be a waste of time to YOU. I like my relic weapons because it feels like I can make progress while I'm waiting for a que or something. So you can always be making progress.

And once you get to your animus you can collect as many alexandrites as you want, which means you can finish your 2nd and 3rd novus that much quicker.

Because I make threads like these so that developers can get their heads out of their arse and make something worth while. The weapons are interesting, just everything about them sucks and I'd hope to see developers actually notice this and decide to change up their game a bit. If the community didn't do things like this we'd just see the atma quest over and over and over again.

But if it wasn't for grinding portions of the game, I wouldn't be playing as much as I am now. Yes, it'd be nice if they could do something "BIG" and "NEW" and "WORTHWHILE" but that requires extra development time. Would you like your patches every 3.5 months, or 9?

You could always just bite down your teeth, and take it rough to get your relic weapon like I have and as many others have. It sucks, and it may not be fun, but its worth it in the end.
