I haven't made a single mistake besides actually deciding to raid tonight when, as long as I'm logged in, I can't stop thinking about the opportunity I pissed away on faith and loyalty; two things I tell my friends to ditch when playing an MMO if they want to progress.

Hey there. I was reading your post and this caught my attention, so I wanted to share my input on this.

It sounds more like you need to be patient. It depends on the static obviously but 2 weeks sounds normal to me. Also the above statement is not true, my static is proof enough. People came and left, as they grew impatient and even told the leader to replace the people that weren't "up to their standards". You know what he did? He told those impatient people "You might be a good player, but not a team player. I don't stab my friends, as loyalty is very important to me. Thank you for participating. Good luck"


Few days later, we beat T6. Then T7, then so on and finally, we beat T9. You don't have to ditch loyalty and friendship in MMOs to progress. You just need to be patient.

Leaving the static in the cold like that would've been very selfish imo. I'm sure you wouldn't want that done to you. Can you imagine? "Hey we found another member, we are gonna have to replace you." out of the blue. How would you feel? I'm sure you guys would've been able to keep on going by just keep teaching the WHM, he would've eventually learned. We all have our bad days. Our static makes silly mistakes from time to time even when we have it on farm, but we don't let that bother us. We joke about it, have fun and keep on trying, even to the point where we wipe for silly things on T7 XD but then one shot T9 on the same day.

I think it took us like 4 weeks on T9? Don't remember. It was a hell of a long time though for each turn! But anyways... you can be true to your values and progress at the same time.

I guess you feel overwhelmed and frustrated because you are in a race against the clock... well nothing I can tell you there. Everyone is different and we all play for different reasons. However it doesn't seem like you are playing the game to have fun... rather to feel satisfaction reaching certain goal and that's ok we all have goals but it's not good to let that ruin the most important aspect of a game: to have fun.

I made this longer than I planned, sorry lol. It's just that you reminded me of someone I knew... that was so goal driven that he just couldn't have fun at all. He couldn't have fun with his friends nor his gf... all that mattered was his goals. If you wanna know how that ended... well not so good, eventually...

i93 WHM, I play casually usually running high lvl roulettes for soldiery and low lvl roulettes for alt jobs. Queued in to Halatali HM last night with a PLD and two bard, and the message that someone was new - one of the bards was sub 3k HPS so knew they were the likely newbie.

No chat, tank waits for Protect and then tears off grabbing first four groups - I'm used to AE but pretty sure new guy isn't - takes forever to take down pack but whatever. Tank proceeds to first boss and pulls before we can explain the mechanics and bard dies twice not knowing the fight.

Next boss, no explanation, bard dies to demon eye and then takes forever to kill it and I die. Explain the mechanics and clear next time easily.

Last boss I'm telling the new guy about the last boss as we clear the trials and we have no issues at all. PLD only words of the run were "lol bad group" as he leaves.

I get that many expect newbies to watch a vid/read a spoiler, but it's not hard to quickly tell new people basic mechanics.

I've noticed many posting here about Wanderers Palace speed runs - one of the worst runs I've had was a guy asking for a speed run and not clarifying that he wanted to do a sac(rifice) run. That's what people queuing for roulette need to understand - not everyone does runs the exact same way, so a little up front communication goes a long way.

Couldnt agree with you more on this. If someone is new, just spend 30 secs explaining the boss to them. The people who rush in without understanding this dont understand that the 30sec explaination can save 5 mins from having to re-do the boss after a wipe. Plus its only manners and courtesy to help other people, we were all new in every dungeon once ourselves.
As for the sacrifce pulls, my word, i thought these were a thing of days gone past. They are hardly necessary now.
Above all else, if you solo queue into DF, expect to be matched with anyone, new or experienced.

I'm sorry, but do you play on my server? The people that I was talking about was a good group and they beat t6, out of all the members only 8 people were doing coil and they liked each other yet it all came crashing down and the leader felt the need to abandon the game and leave other people who were in the static, you can say be patient and I was, but when I figured out that it wasn't really an fc and just a group of people who had no intention of helping others and just letting them rot in the fc, because they think they'll never leave I left. When I told them I was going to join another fc they were horrified and basically had a go at me. I'm sorry, but loyalty needs to be earned. Their true colors came out that day and I knew I made the right choice 3 months later they're down to 17 "active" members now I'm in a fc which has good people who help you do instances, second coil the relic weapon. Your static maybe ok, but you're not the one that gets left out from progression.

Your grp sucks, you should ditch them.. Loyalty and faith are not something you give unconditionally, they need to be earned through hard work and proof of talent. From my own experience, end-game raiding in this game will always stay terrible until you find a grp that match your skill/effort lvl..

Garuda hard mode. We had a Black Mage who refused to do anything and we were hit with Garuda's shriek in the first quarter of the fight. We wiped on purpose and kicked the mage out since he was either trolling or wanting to be carried for his nexus farming.


On another incident, I did Titan Hard and had a few new people. OK, that's a non issue for me, but then the other WHM started to DPS and didn't bother helping me with healing in the first half of the fight. Several people went down since I was trying to bounce around between healing, interruptions from Titan, and reviving. The WHM then tried to flip flop between DPS and healing, which may as well amounted to doing nothing. Said WHM was also trying to DPS with an Atma relic.


After Landslide got me, I just ate the penalty and left.

Wooo I dun no whur ta start with my stories? The time I had to tank two Aevis in Stone Vigil while the Tank thought he was DPS bashing on just one? Or the time where the WAR refused, not accidentally, but REFUSED to use defiance in Aurun Vale and everything aggro'd to me especially when he did his combos BACKWARDS! Oo.Oo. I got it! The time where the tank aggro'd the whole room and then ran to the healer with the mobs using only single target attacks while they snacked on my gear and finally me.

I could write a novel in here... I also have tank horror stories but I'll save that for another thread

As SCH:
At Tamtara Hard, the tank does aggro to all mobs on place after Boss 2. Of course I use Lustrate to spam heal the tank, but this tank has a low HP and drained pretty fast. I kept spam Physick + Adlo but still this tank's HP drained pretty fast and the result our party wiped. He apologizes and finally he do aggro to each group of the mobs.

As WHM:
At Thornmarch Ex, not sure if I do something wrong but I always get MP damage from the king and I depend on Shroud of Saint (too bad our party dont have BRD), still it doesn't increase the amount of my MP much. Seems lucky too that the other healer(SCH) can manage it and we can clear it smoothly.

Titan Extreme solo Tank solo heal as SCH, only issue i was rusty since my clear, and got my timers off damn elitist players i dont think they are gonna find one.

That also happened to me too as SCH used all my arsenal Xmind potion, illumination with Dawn, Eye for an Eye, Sacred soils lol also checked tank buffs
