Wait, people need addons for this game
Its not that this game is terribly easy but I thought people were looking for challenging encounters.
When someone uses mods, doesn't that contradict that argument?![]()

Personally I don't really care about DBM-alikes... but I think there's an argument for aural warning systems. There's a reason aircraft have them despite very informative instrumentation--sometimes it just helps to have info coming from more than one channel, so I can relate to players wanting that.
OTOH if you mean semi-automation, no, eff that.
But again. It's not need. It's quality of life. We didn't need the retainer screen to show timers on the same screen, but it's nice. We don't need new hildibrand or other sidequests, but some players find those fun.
In any case, announcement apps do seem to be pretty common in endgame. So for raiders, it's apparently a pretty big QoL thing.
Having a warning system reduces 1 less challenge you have to deal with. When you have to pay less attention to certain mechanics because you have an addon or mod to do it for you, you now have fewer things to focus on, making encounters MUCH MUCH easier.
Anything that makes an encounter easier contradicts the argument that content isn't hard enough, including, warning systems.
Well. One way or another, endgamers are using it. But addons would let us do so much more. How about a friends list that lets us keep notes and provides a "last seen" date? Or an inventory management helper that lets crafters know what materials they have stored on retainers? A more detailed weather tracker for fishers? etc etcHaving a warning system reduces 1 less challenge you have to deal with. Updated my OP to reflect this... this isn't an argument for DBM-alikes in particular, but I suspect those are one of the most popular third-party tools right now. Anyway, included more examples.
