I don't care about not being able to ride other mounts with my companion summoned, I just wish I could still use the mount roulette command but have it only pick my Choco when it's out. so I don't need to have both a Choco button and mount roulette button on my hotbar.

I have no problem with this at all! I understand quite clearly why we are limited to the number of models that can appear on the screen at once. Our chocos/minions already disappear when we mount, so it is nothing new to us. Just please let us access our other mounts while our choco is out.

When lots of players will leave the game (please look forward to it!), perhaps then you'll have to find another excuse than the Stress on the servers..

Yoshi said fishing can help to relieve stress: perhaps it's time for the servers to try it out?

Everything we try to suggest mostly comes down to this.. I admit it's annoying.

Sad to see that the 2.0 had a good start, but since then it feels it's going down bit-by-bit..

Don't let a great game be left aside, please keep up listening to the playerbase as much as you can.

    So far, it's.. fair.

    Thank you.

In this case I REALLY would be OK with the fact that it would "not make sense" for your chocobo to disappear and re-appear when you ride other mounts etc. It would just be extremely convenient.

I'm perfectly ok with our companion chocobo disappearing when we use another mount. Throwing my vote in for that.

People arent leaving the game because of choco/mount limitations, they rather leave because peeps are sick of negative attitude, just like that post you just made.

As a programmer myself, I am constantly irritated by the player whining.

"Do this like that, it'll be cool for ME"...

Yet people knows nothing of a ressource limitation or optimisation on a structured game and the impact of one small change can do on the whole thing.

Thank God i'm not dealing with customer service, i'd loose my job in a minute.

First of all, thanks for the response. However, for you to explain to me what I would want to do, and what sort of relationship I have with my own chocobo, is rather condescending.

Second, it is a very weak excuse. My chocobo and I aren't married. It is not "cheating" on my chocobo when I ride other mounts -- which, obviously, I do anyhow whenever the chocobo is not around. If this bond of loyalty is so strong, why would I need to bribe my companion with gysahl greens every single time I need him to appear? Why does he cower from dungeons, abandoning me to face unknown dangers alone?

This certainly makes sense, and is a far more substantial reason for the restriction. If all players could suddenly be mounted and have their chocobo companions out, it would be a lot more character models to render at once.

However, consider what happens when you need to mount your companion. Does your character hop up on the chocobo and begin riding, seamlessly? No. Rather, the "companion" version of the chocobo disappears, its HP bar becomes blanked out for some reason, and a new "mount" version of the chocobo appears to ride around on. And the same happens in reverse: when it's time to dismount, the chocobo disappears, then reappears beside you.

Like I said -- and as is obvious to everyone playing the game -- this is exactly how it already works, with every mount, including chocobo. They appear out of thin air when summoned, and vanish into the aether when dismissed. We understand they are not literally appearing/disappearing. It's a visual shorthand that every MMORPG uses for mounts, pets, etc. Nobody thinks it is a "strange occurrence." At the very least, having the chocobo companion temporarily disappear while I mount something else would not be any more "strange" than when it disappears only to appear again as a mount.

This is excellent news. Please, please, please adjust the companion system so that we may use the mount of our choice while the chocobo companion is active. And yes, of course player freedom and enjoyment absolutely trumps some flimsy and contradictory bit of "lore" about the so-called "trusting relationship" between players and our chocobos.

And while you are at it, please consider making some additional changes to the companion system as well...

Duty Finder: Not being able to queue in DF is very inconvenient, and basically makes chocobo companion go unused a lot of the time. I don't understand why you designed the game so that it could not tell the difference between an AI-controlled NPC pet and a legit, human player in my party. I also do not understand why summoning a chocobo companion will automatically boot a player out of the queue, without any kind of warning message first. I feel this is probably causing a lot of frustration and wasted time for players who might occasionally forget. Please note that if you already have a companion out, attempting to queue comes with a warning message and will not auto-dismiss.

Chocobo Skill Point Reset: Why is this such a hassle? Finding out what makes a good skill set for your chocobo is a process of trial and error. Leveling up the chocobo take a very long time, and there is no way to get a good feel for how each skill line plays out until you've already invested in it. 20 Allied Seals for a Reagan Pepper is not the end of the world, but there is no way a player can get any of these until they finish the main story and unlock the Hunt feature. We can also buy a Reagan Pepper for 48,000 Grand Company Seals, but not only is this an outrageously expensive price, it also is dangerously close to the maximum amount of seals that we're even allowed to hold at any given time (50,000). I can imagine that anyone who is actually saving up for this via GC seals will inadvertently hit the cap along the way and waste seals, unless they are watching it constantly.

In WoW hunter pets do the vanishing act all the time, so I really don't see the big deal. Might not be the prettiest solution out there but it works.

I can understand that some older machines would have trouble handling (worst case) double the amount of models out there, however your servers shouldn't have a problem with that since they aren't rendering the models. My GPU does that.

I really would like to be able to use my tandem Chocobo even when my lovely Keyaara accompanies me.

I know this thread's practically closed right now, but it's worth revisiting now. Especially now with Sleipnir mounts available. Right now I have no intentions of buying this mount knowing full well that I can't ride it. I almost always have my chocobo summoned and out to help me, causing me to not be able to use any of the other mounts that I currently own. A lot of people have their own preferences to what mount to be using for what job they're on, but right now limiting yourself to only chocobos when you have a chocobo out seems to be the only option for a lot of us that are begging for some flexibility and quality of life. If the excuse is lore, then a lot of fairies, carbuncles, and minions (some quite alive due to lore) are now getting shafted from that bond that was mentioned before.
