The way I understood that picture was that the glamour prisms themselves would be storing the glamours so turning them off would be just to remove them from the slot. This would also add another armory chest tab for them.



actually I like your idea better. the part you saw as a slot was meant to be a button that would show the Glamour Set. but the idea of having glamour prisms go into that as a slot and have their own armory chest tab just overall seems like a better idea to me
I suspect they were considering that at one point, but decided against it for data storage reasons.
If they had gone that route they would have needed to nearly double the number of each character's equipped item slots (i.e. add 12 vanity slots), the size of the armory chest (i.e. add at least 1, but up to 12, new armor chest sections) and the amount of info stored client side in each gear set.
They likely determined that adding two tags and a model redirect to each equipable item was the most data efficient way to implement glamour.
