Like I said a few pages back. Do what FFXI did. Single target Fire, Fire II, Fire III. AoE Firaga, Firaga II, Firaga III etc. This way there is no confusion between jobs. BLM II means AoE except for Thunder II. WHM II is ST and III is AoE. By combining the two conventions you get greater clarity

An AoE is a different type of spell from a ST so a different name altogether actually makes sense. At least to me.

This is an issue that cannot be addressed by the localization team. The problem here, is that people are complaining about several different "issues" rather than finding a consensus on what they would like to see addressed.

Every language has labeled the spells simply based on the order they are learned.

Some people are complaining that they want different labeling because they think it looks "cool."

Some people are complaining that they want different labeling that's more intuitive (i.e. different suffixes based on the type of spell effect).

Some people are complaining that the localization team just does a horrible job on the game as a whole.

So to the original poster, could you clearly articulate which of these groups you're spearheading with this thread?

Totally nailed it. Unless everyone can agree on what they want to see or what should be implemented, all the devs will see is white noise.

I have to agree with you as well.

Yeah it was but from where I stand I see it as replacing one inconsistant naming convention with another. By naming them on the type of spell they are (AoE or ST) we see greater clarity which was SEs reasoning for the naming convention set in place. We'd see Roman Numerals indicating the strength of a spell and the suffix indicating the type of the spell.
