It's been the same with ARR. "It's just re-released give them time", "It's not even the first patch yet give them time", "They're working on the PS4 version give them time", "They're working on the Chinese version give them time", "They're working on Fanfest give them time", "It's not even the first expansion yet give them time", "They haven't dropped PS3 support yet give them time", etc.

^Yeah those excuses are so old. I've given them plenty of time. They aren't getting any more of my money until the game is actually fun lol.

But what exactly are we giving them more time to give? PS4 version came out, Chinese one is coming, Fanfest is happening, First expansion will come and set some directions of the game in stone. (I know these aren't your comments and quotes just I'm replying to it btw and when I used 'you're' under this it's not you're like YOU just a general statement.)

I'm not trying to cop out any 'excuses' for SE, the game is fun when you're not giving it expectations. Gold Saucer is a good example, can Gold Saucer end up really fun? Yep! it can.

Can it ever live up to the full blown expectations to follow the original Gold Saucer that a diehard FF7 fan who really loved it can have? No, Not ever. Set yourself up for least SOME disappointment.

Things like above is things that happens a lot. Atma, Hunts, Housing. All things hoped to be a way they never turned out to be in the end. This isn't completely SE's fault for us hyping ourselves up in hopes that it will be great and how we all individually picture it. (Not every one artist paints with the same stroke of the brush.)

Is it bad that we do? Not at all, we're not at fault for being excited for a game we really want to see go a good direction but at the same time when things are done like that then expect to be disappointed in the future.

Also keep in mind that everyone has different views, what can not be one persons gamer taste can be another gamer cup of tea easily. FFXIV does have points where it's a complete utter worth of $%#& like all the instanced and solo-able content that you can finish very fast at a non-super casual rate however there's also good sides to the game too as with any game.

I personally would love to see 1.0 just to experience the game that some players did love but I wouldn't trade in 2.4 for 1.0 other than just to see the view of another despite stuff I've heard from former 1.0 players about the early version of it.

Edit: and when I say Solo-able, I mean you don't need friends for anything. You just need strangers in a DF, not saying that's bad but you really don't need anyone unless it's raiding content or extremes which even then... you really don't need anyone once extremes come out in DF with echo buff or raids end up like first coil is right now.

That's the point of many people around the world if they play 1.0.
I chose this reply to answer also to someone there who making questions like "what part of 1.0 is better" ect:

1.0 is better in nothing technically speaking, but the so familiar Uematsu' sounds, the Akihiko Yoshida's world that reached top quality, the care for details, the feeling of battle, the way to slowly grow up your character and even the pain to reach rewards like FFXI did at its time made FFXIV a true old school Final Fantasy online and sorry, I have no words to explain that, it's something who only players who belong to this saga since the start can feel.

These music video bring me emotions, memories you will remember forever like every FF titles did in the past (aside FF13).

I am enjoying FFXIV ARR both for the game itself that is nice in every way and for the wonderful people I am playing with, but I will never trade emotions for gameplay.

I'd enjoy 1.0 again to experience the lore/story again. While watching cutscenes are nice, there's something special about actually unlocking them.

...alternatively, they could just give us the 1.0 main scenerio quests through some Echo gameplay or something and I'd eat that up.

There are reasons why there's still some ppl who still longing for the old Eorzea. I'm sorry for ppl who dislike 1.0 and especially for those who only plays like what? several days only?

You can't really make a definite judgement by the short amount of play, kinda a bias to me.

And for crying out loud, again with the lame copy-paste excuse? Can you tell me a game that's really has every unique texture on the whole area? Even ARR has copied textures, not as much as 1.0, but there is. In fact, there isn't any single game from beginning till now that has a very unique texture. cmiiw

Just recently, I just walk past an electronic store, On the Philips TV set, it has demo showing FFXIV 1.0 of Uldah's opening scene. on big 40" screen. For an old demo, it still gives out great charm. It looks awesome.
Then I ran the old 1.0 benchmark which shows Limsa opening, complete with Leviathan ravaging the seas. It was epic!
Then later on, I felt really sad because there's no way I can see demo of Gridania opening which also funny and epic too, something I can only recall from my memory when I first start 1.0 at Shroud. Only youtube can quench my thirst of old memories.

And now, I don't recall anything I really hate, besides that awful RNG on that Ifrit drops which unfortunately still carried on heavily into ARR. And oh... how I very much despise the current Coerthas. Very very very ugly compared with 1.0. I can't even see the majestic Ishgard anymore...

oh... how i longed to see these sights again...

Nope. My PC could barely run it, so I didn't get much out of it sadly. Runs ARR max settings. <3

    @BobbinT;

I think both parties are a little bias to an extent, I am sure some players do wish 1.0 came back. Some of my friends could tell me all day about how they miss how open world it was or the music/graphics from 1.0 that isn't inside 2.0.

I also know some really like 2.0 for small changes and probably wouldn't go back to waiting 5~10 mins for an auction house page to show up or some things that they mentioned that they felt could of been tweaked.

I think... there's good and bad memories for any player from 1.0. I personally would of loved the music to stay in ARR and not just the music that was linked in this thread cause I also heard other themes from 1.0, though I have nothing against Soken's music either. I really really did want to try 1.0 in the past and wanted a PC that could run it back then but didn't have the option at the time.

I don't think it's bashing towards 1.0 good memories or potential to be great but rather how it played for certain players at the time and the memories of the frustration they felt. I really prefer for no one to bash either versions though considering imo both had/has flaws and good aspects to go with it.

I enjoyed many of the fights, and thought that the gear grind was harder then it was now, for example, it would take forever to get a single weapon from ifrit if you wanted it to be the right one when ifrit first came out. I would love to go back, and I would even pay to go back.
