I would go back to 1.0 if they brought tanaka back and let him finish the game with the resources yoshi had to put together ARR, which is what FFXIV 1.0 really needed, more time and manpower to get properly finished

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when people talk about how much better 1.0 looked. Every screen shot of the 1.0 Shroud looks like the same dark green blur to me? :S
Not everyone could actually boost the graphics fully - You also probably seen a lot with AO on, which is what murdered many people's GPU so they always had low settings. ARR's graphics are actually a lot lower quality, they're just more vibrant so it looks "better" - the textures are actually fairly low res (zoom in on some.) 2.0/ARR was supposed to be 1.23 with better optimization, server architecture and more content, the promo screenshot was just that, then they pulled a 180 on that.
A world free from PS3 limitations?
Count me in!

I would go back. With all its issues it was more of an MMORPG.
If SE had Tanaka for it, the better.
I remember the puzzle of the black shroud too. I started there. It was a TERRIBLE starting zone. first thing most people did in gridania was buy a teleport to Ul'dah or Limsa, so that leaving the damn place wasn't so difficult.
so... nope, i don't think i would want 1.0 back these days. i do nostalgia hardcore for some of the stuff we got to do back then though, for the end of an era storyline.
I'd try it, am curious about it. =P
no, but I want my miqo'te hips from 1.0 back ! and the same dungeon system as well, but the hips first
