No matter how you sugarcoat it, people who say: "I can make 1-7 mil an hr" usually don't, because that requires not only dealing with a market that OTHER people are trying to make THEIR OWN 1-7m an hour, it means tons of undercutting, so you must find a market no one cares about yet many people want in order to make that kind of money.

Also, if you see a materia up for exactly 1 mil or 1 mil with tax, it's obviously a way for a gil seller to transfer gil. No one will buy materia for 1 mil, especially post 2.0 - No one will "mistakenly buy it" either. It's the same with Allagan Coins that RMT used to use to transfer gil, you have ZERO reason to buy them, let alone buy them for millions. They're pretty thorough about it - The most they'll do is take your gil away before banning you.

I always find it hilarious how people come on here and brag about making a gazillion gil in a few minutes...

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

The trail of the bans generally only runs from seller to buyer not the other way around.

SE is not going to ban you unless they can link the movement of large sums of gil from a seller to you. A hillariously overpriced materia sale "Could" look suspect, if it ran with a series of other large purchases from this RMT, but as of todays date I haven't heard as much of a single account getting nuked due to being involved with RMT activities they have however nuked peoples money if it has been found to be obtained from a RMT source. Back when the game first started up and SE actually took heavy and quick action against RMT people complained that they had gill "Falsley" removed from their characters as they had no interaction with RMT.

The official response was that intentional or not any suspect gil was removed from the system whole hog *This was more probably to just not actually accuse anyone of suspected activity, instead of banning them*

I don't think they'll ban you, but there might be a chance that gil gets deleted, or something along those lines? If they do one of those mass-tracebacks again.

I agree with others here. Unless there is some very solid proof that you're purposely interacting with RMT, most that can happen is that your Gil disappears (the amount the RMT paid) and you get an email or so telling you why the Gil was taken away. Any of us could be receiving money from RMT without knowing just from listing our stuff on the Market Board.

You can however, check out who bought your item. if the name is something like iuytiruyt kjshdf or something just as weird, you should actually contact the customer service yourself and get that RMT-er banned.

Not sure how they go about it. I know some guys at school that bought gil for housing back when it first came out and they never got banned for it. That was ages ago. Always kind of annoyed me that they can get away with stuff like that but eh, nothing I can do about it.

Thanks for all the answers. I feel a whole lot less worried now.

My materias (I sold 2) were listed at 600k each, and the market price was around 200k-250k when I found out that mine were sold. There were a whole bunch of other retainers that were selling at reasonable price so I was pretty shocked that someone would buy my 600k materia for 1.2 mil (before tax).

Come to think of it, there's no reason that a gilseller would buy such expensive stuff, because they are trying to make gil, not to spend. And if they were to transfer gil via market board sales, they should have known which retainer is the correct target, and should only buy from their own group, right? Now I feel stupid for panicking. :x

    Thanks everyone for your opinions.

Still now people can get away with it, there's someone in my server who bought a mansion for his fc, bought a personal mansion as soon as 2.38 landed (meaning he paid 87.5m), bought 10 thavnairian onions as soon as they got to the market for 8m each (80m) and until two weeks ago none of his crafting classes were melded, then he bought out the crafting materia market, caused a huge spike in field II, field III and master demi and is getting supra for all his crafters.

Apparently none of this has raised any suspicions, it's clear that the people hired for monitoring the market/housing are not doing their job, when someone can spend hundreds of millions like nothing while having zero market presence as a seller.

Synth 3-4 sets of i30-35 Crafting Gear.

Go around the Quarrymill zone and murder everything that moves.

Spirit Bind all 4 sets in about 30 mins.

    ??????

Profit because crafting/gathering materia is ludicrously priced atm. (On Ultros t2 Gather is about 40-50k each)
