Err... I don't know if someone asked this already since I skimmed the thread but... what is "WoD"? And what expansion in this that is being spoken of? I thought Final Fantasy's expansion was still quite a bit away...![]()

~Quit moping, get hoping~

Blizzard messed up with their one year without an update. Only dead brain cows will comeback :3
I was about to ask what WoD is but I see its been asked and answered already.
I dont think WoW is all that relevant to us in FFXIV. Sure, the population size on each server will wax and wane a bit as all MMO populations do. But the population wont shrink small enough for it to matter anytime soon.

I'm not a wow player, but i have read about the new expansion, isn't it a bunch of rehashed maps with new content and updated graphics? they are even selling high lvl characters, i don't see any potential on it.
I suppose it will attract some players, but i'm sure most ppl use long term subs here, they will be back before the sub ends.

I doubt it'll hurt FFXIV much in the long run. There might be a drop in subs over the next few months, but the people invested in this game will most likely return. It will not greatly effect SE's bottom line, or even impact their release pipeline for content patches.
Because of this game's brand name, there's a built-in audience who came for the Final Fantasy and will stay for the same reason.
For my part, though I may not log in as often, I don't plan on cancelling my FFXIV sub. I'm highly skeptical of WoW: Warlords of Draenor's chances of enamouring me. I do not feel as invested in that game's setting or storylines than I do for this one. That's rather strange, considering how long Warcraft has been around (and how long I've been an avid player of it), but the metaplot is worn and stretched incredibly thin.

There are a good chunk of people who will leave in my opinion. I would say 15-20% at least for the short term. Then it will be up to how good the WoW expansion is if they will stay gone.
The game is a WoW clone, many people in this game are from WoW and are playing it because they got bored with WoW. Those players will probably go back to it at the expansion.
Will it be a disaster, probably not. But it will cost this game a chunk of its population.

Some people will go back to WoW, at least until they get bored with it again. I quit WoW myself a long time ago, no matter the expansion I'm not going back though I do miss the old days. (late BC-Mid WOLK for me) I'll just watch youtube videos to see the story elements of WoD, that's really all I care about.

i mainly play mmorpg for raiding/dungeon and world pvp, which honestly WoW is far more superior for now
and i really hate instanced world, loading screen everywhere @@
