    Atleast in FFXI when you couldn't do anything you can always farm, camp NMs when your friends were offline or waiting for an event.
    I just stand in town and play another game on my 2nd screen until someone in my FC asks me to do something lol.

    Flexible party sizes means more 'adventuring' with friends, and I've read threads about 'Hybrid' classes jobs.
    IMHO You don't need a 'Hybrid' Class/Job all they have to do is make MORE equipment FLEXIBLE like they did in XI to allow us to relatively 'switch or be more versatile with our roles'

    I still remember my 1st mmorpg. Lineage 2. I will never overcome this feeling. In all game forums I see posts like this one. People always feel nostalgia about something older and distant in the past. Memories make it so sweet. If you wanna see how false are our memories try to return to your old mmorpg and stay there. Most of you won't like it the way you thought you gonna like it once you return. It simply won't feel the same again. MMORPG's changed over the years. I think we will never again get open world games like XI or L2 where everything took soooo long to be done. That's why it felt "epic". The problem is that those games had way worse grind that the worst grind FFXIV ARR has now. People nowadays want everything to be done quickly. Look the forums and see how many people are complaining about the FATE grind for Novus or whatever. Didn't you grind endlessly in your old mmorpg? Yes you did. I'm pretty sure you did triple the grind you do here.

    Everquest Next is looking to be by far the best MMORPG on the market and is open world without pretty much any instances, dangerous world and horizontal progression. I doubt games will ever go back to being as time consuming as they used to be, but it doesn't look like it will go as far as ARR has done either which will satisfy many of the people who liked the epic feeling. Especially since they are planning to have different types of servers where one might actually cater to the more old school players instead of trying to fit everyone into the same mishmash of ideas.

    Couldn't have said It better myself. Look dude everyone has things they'd like to see improved or added. Hell, I am even cool with certain aspects of XI being added. But if you think for one second XIV is gonna live up to a memory you need to see a shrink.

    Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.

    I think Black Desert has a chance to be localized faster than we'll get EQ Next lol.
    And honestly even though I am looking forward to it I don't think it'll hold up to it's 'hype' especially if it dies as quickly as Landmark did I feel that the dev team for EQ atm is all smoke and mirrors...

    It's "immersive" in theory, but it's really just a novelty that one can easily get tired of after familiarization.
    Watching that video I certainly got the feeling of running through a forest. I didn't see any camps or establishments until reaching a final destination on the other side. Just because they didn't put anything in that space doesn't mean it was bad and you shouldn't have it. It means they had bad vision and bad game design as far as making good use of that space. You can have that exact same problem with a condensed area that looks great but has too much repetitive gameplay. I envisioned all sorts of possibilities and adventures with traversing a wooded area like that. But it's the interactions with the environment that create the immersion. I don't really get that in 14. I wish I did because there's a lot of places that look great and are well designed but fall flat in purpose and interaction. Running to an area like a dungeon entrance once to unlock it then revisiting the area each time after through an instance just isn't that immersive.

    For the love of Shiva, can we please let the game get a few more expansions under it's belt first? >_>;

    You want immersion, yet you could not see the very clear copy paste features present every 10 yalms. Willful ignorance at its best.

    "Casuals" still haven't beaten EXs. Casuals still haven't stepped into Coil (kind of like most of these people complaining about it being easy). Yet, casuals are always the most played demographic (Let me spell it out: Money) in the MMO's alive today. Get over it already. The content is there, stop being blind and play it, or go back to that dead shell of a game that XI is and play it. It is doing oh so well after all.

    I would love to return to XI but seeing as they nerfed it all to hell it isnt the same. When the cap was level 75 it was great but seeing as they nerfed or broke Xi due to level cap increase and other things it isnt the same game. XIV has nothing that makes it stand out, its a mix of everything every other game has done. Instanced content is boring it never changes and is always the same, the open world is too small (zones) everything is handed out like candy, there is no danger at all. Lets ditch these theme park MMO's and go back to the sand box style.

    The dev's need to drop the hand holding, make things in the open world challenging and drop all the instanced dungeons. I dont need some one to tell me where to go or how to play. I dont need the dev's to guide me let the players decide how they wish to expand on their character just give us the tools to do so, no more hand holding.

    Let the players as we did in XI decide regardless if good or bad. You can not police or control every aspect of the game as they currently are, it gets old and boring really fast.

    And thats why we have so many groups who wipe on the ex fights because players dont wanna learn or want to be carried. Hell players still cant do titan ex. Just because they are the most played means nothing, cause in the end they just complain its to hard or they complain about rng or what have you (not all). This is a MMO it is a long term game, it should be treated as such, it shouldnt be treated as a offline single player game. Some things should be easy some things should be hard and some things should be a grind to obtain.
