I was pretty sure it was going to be 30 rogue + 15 ???? and not gated behind 2.2 history.
Now I want to see how they write the story not to make it too "deus ex machina-ry".
NPC: "hey NINs are fighters from the east, they are currently fighting the garleans or fleeing by sea....but you just found one here now"...
Also, will SE re-write some of the storyline dialogues for them to trigger if you have NIN unlocked?....would be pretty stupid for Yugiri to offer to train you if you have already been a NIN for 20 levels.
IIRC SE has already done this with Legacy players...NPC talk differently to players who cleared 1.0 story vs. new 2.0 players....so maybe they can pull something like this?...no NIN = standard cutscene NIN unlocked = new cutscene or dialogues?
Watch them pull you need have completed 2.2 Main Scenario to unlock Ninja still.
My only disappointment was that Rogue would not be available to choose from at character creation. However, that disappointment is only severely mild, i.e. I'll live.
For convenience sake, I would go with choosing Maurader or Arcanist to start with. Then, when you get to the point you're able to unlock other classes (usually around level 10) and pick up Rogue.
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
I kinda assumed that was the way it would be since Rogue/Ninja were announced...Seems the rogue quests go up to level 30, just like normal, and the NIN quests take over after that up until level 50. So, it seems the rogue and ninja will operate the exact same as every other class/job combo. Is anyone disappointed with this, or are you happy it is available to everyone including new players? Personally it doesn't matter to me much but I'm glad the game is very inclusive of new players ^^
Its not like you can't take all classes to 15 within a couple hours thoughSeriously. I really wish they'd let us know what other thing we have to grind to 15 in preparation for Ninja. A smart bet might be Pugilist, but I could also imagine something like Arcanist or Thaumaturge for those semi-magical mudra skills.
They even mention "the vital energies of the land, the air, and living beings," which sounds like Conjurer.![]()
As fun it would be to see the rage threads for kicks (yes I have a evil side) Yoshi-P already said there will be no Main Story requirements for Ninja Job. Just need to get lvl 30 Rogue/15 ???
You have to wonder about the mentality of people thinking a week to get something, isn't newbie friendly.
You have to wonder how we used to have no problem with advanced jobs in FFXI or DK in WoW.
Devs. had players that actually devoted some time to play their games back then; now people just complain they haven't got time for a monthly service they pay for.

Honestly - I was for locking Ninja behind 2.2 to give new people time to play Rogue 1-50 as a class and learn it's lore/mechanics before they had a change to the expanded arsenal a Job crystal brings with it. Which honestly would've made it the first actual "advanced Job" of FFXIV.
Instead;
Week 1/2 = Everyone decides to pick up Rogue/Ninja
- Huge DPS influx
- Dungeon Queues slow to a crawl
- People complain about the Duty Finder & start face rolling F.A.T.E
- Narutards everywhere with chat log emotes
Week 2/3
- Nobody really learns the Job
- Complain it's too OP/Weak/etc.
- People don't know how to build their _____ for Ninja (Stats/Gear/Rotation)
Week 4/5
- People finally start figuring out Ninja (Stats/Gear/Rotations)
- Either OP/Weak or X ability will be broken in some fashion
- Ninja will have at least 1/2 useless cross-class abilities
- Complaining complaints of complainers complaining
Week 5
- Foam mouth gurgle gurgle
