I feel the same way about Ul'dah and the Pugilist's Guild. The guild used to be a training center for people working as hired muscle for the Platinum Mirage (the casino/bank right next door). If anyone owed money to the Mirage, they'd send some members of the guild to beat the hell out of them and collect their money. Now what is it? They do nothing but box all day with no point or place in society. Why was everything in Eorzea cleaned up into sunshine and rainbow land for ARR?

Also have to mention Gridania and the Shroud. It's now happy hippy land, but it used to be a dark, scary, unwelcoming place. The Gridanians didn't want outsiders there, and even the forest itself didn't want outsiders there.

You didnt beat up customers. If you did it, you got fired. Only collecting money without beating was allowed, because the customers were rich.
But you was allowed to beat up some pirates who counterfeited chips.

I kinda agree. Limsa has softened up since the Clamity.

Under Merlwyb Limsa is no longer a pirate "haven" the real pirates are outlaws and instead pirates that working in Limsa are "traders" or expert Garlean saboteurs. I was surprised at how seemingly honorable the MRD guild was. Overall, Limsa is my fave City State due to its lack of xenophobia and its relative progressive government.

I think it's kinda because when an empire threatens to take over your homeland and a giant dragon blows it up you realize there are things more important than money and booze and should maybe probably work for the greater good.

Are you serious? There is innuendo all over the place and there are hookers in a ton of Ul'dah cutscenes.

Yeah, Ul'dah itself is mostly the same. My main issue is with the Pugilist's Guild. I don't even remember them mentioning the Platinum Mirage in the PGL storyline (but I could be wrong. I did that over a year ago.)

I actually really like the Gridania Seals gear. All we get in Limsa is 50 shades of emo trenchcoat.

I dont understand why they try to make it so hard to be a goody good game. Games are for escaping reality and becoming something you wouldnt in real life. Like a pirate or a thief. Of course theres its limits but really a pirate or thief in a game isnt terrible.

You haven't played Final Fantasy very long then.

Final Fantasy isn't about throwing the player itself into the moral gray, it's about questioning predispositions such as corrupt governments, false religions, or imposing outer threats. Rare is the occasion in which the player is put into the position of wrongdoing, and usually it is done from ignorance that the player then attempts to redeem.
