Pointing out that you're wrong is not defensive. I don't care one way or the other how they implement the job, it's just "so dumb" to not realize there are legitimate arguments for both sides.
I'm legitimately tell you guys to consider existing features and how they are implemented when new content arrives. ESPECIALLY when it's extremely similar to existing content. Just being "new" doesn't throw all that out the window. Dynamic MMO or not.

In the end my expectations were met because they were realistic. Enjoy disappointment I suppose. Peace out.

Reduce code. Reuse code. Get more done with less work.
Hence: Precedence from XI - Base classes (in XI it was 6, in XIV it was the DoH/DoW/DoL classes), newly released classes = require you to progress to a point to unlock them. That's the simplest way to get more done with less work, by doing something your team has done for 12 years already.

I don't know why you're all being so defensive. Are you harboring some repressed hope it will change or something?
Technically, you're the one that came in here attacking people who said it could work differently..

My only disappointment is that it looks like the Ninja standard gear is heavy armour and it's purple. Neither of those really suit the Ninja image. (I like purple, but not so much for NIN.)

Well, most have a second level 45 quest (collecting AF gear), but I was wondering about those extra 15 and 35 ones, too.

There are generally two job quests at level 30. The first the 30+15 quest where your class trainer sends you to meet the job trainer (this is the one that actually unlocks the job), and then another 30 quest from your job trainer. Based on the "Required Levels" column, these are both the ones listed under the "Ninja Quests" section, which means it's the extra level 30 quest listed under "Rogue Quests" that's something different. So we have extra Rogue quests at 15 and 30 and an extra Ninja quest at 35 (unless of course, there's just some copy-paste errors in that page causing them to be listed twice).

Anyone who didn't start in Limsa has to do that to unlock ACN and MRD as well, just as those who did start in Limsa have to to unlock anything in the other cities. Are you sure that's not all he was referring to?

That's not something new. The current level 10 class quest of your starting class unlocks the ability to add additional classes. Rogue, as a non-starting class has that same requirement (just as all DoH and DoL classes do, since none of them are starting classes either.)

It could just as easily imply that she'll be the advanced trainer once the level cap is raised above 50.

I'm glad, personally, that new players won't be gated out of it for the entire storyline. that seems senseless to do imo.

I doubt the subclass will be anything magical related, as it has already been stated, all of NIN's damage is entirely physical. It's probably going to be PGL.

If SE ever does decide to add a more advanced version of classes/jobs that starts after level 50, they're not going to give the entire player base a total of ONE advanced job to choose from. They would need enough to provide a balanced party makeup, so there would need to be advanced tank jobs, advanced melee DPS jobs, advanced ranged DPS jobs, and advanced healer jobs (still kind of hoping they'd use that opportunity to add the support role into the mix as well).

That sort of thing could conceivably come with a full expansion, but I have to wonder about people who thought it would come when a patch gives us one new job.

Yeah I figure it will probably cross class with pugilist and lancer, would make the most sense for a physical melee class anyways. But doesn't matter all that much to me, I got all classes at 35+ in preparation.

    For everyone who forgets...

ACN has 2 lv15 quests. First one is prep (gain Summon II) the second is the story quest where you learn to use Topaz

I'm expecting something similar; first gives an ability, second teaches it's use

So we actually have 1 new class not 2 as many people believed. I think many people will be disappointed. The way they presented this it's like they wanted to say that we have 2 new separate classes but instead it's one class with the subclass after 30 just like all the other classes. But I won't count them as 2 as we all know that almost no one with functional common sense playing the original class up to 50's. And I'm not talking about new players who don't know where to start the job quest and how to equip the soul crystal. The problem with SE and FF14 is the way the present things. Like the chocobo training system which looked a fantastic fun mini game thing and ended up a 1 click feed choco and watch a random cutscene. Or the housing thing....
