Any ideas what the "rare item" message threshold is now? My i84 battle/341 fisher(way over XIV cap)/384 miner/384 botanist got no "rare item" messages when I sent them out.

Ah, nm, same thresholds, just for some reason the rare item message only shows up when you complete the venture rather than when you start it, unlike before.

For more info:

ilvl 79 : "With better gear, your retainer may be able to procure rarer items."
ilvl 82 : "Your retainer's current gear should improve chances of finding rare items."

So I guess that not only is there an ilvl threshold (i80), getting better gear drastically increases your chance of getting them dyes and stuff. I'd guess it goes like this:

<i80 = no chance
i80 = minimum, low chance
i90 = mid, fair chance
i100= high, high chance

Guess I'll have to figure out the easiest/cheapest way to boost my retainers gear a bit. I'm not even sure what they are at now for iLVL its been so long since I've done any ventures.

Just need a couple silver dyes and I'd be happy.

EDIT - Just logged in from work to check them. Both are iLVL 63..... so guess I'm screwed for now unless I can get high enough by shifting over some other gear that I use for hunting. Bleh.

Mmm so looks like I'll have to get better gear for my retainer to get these dyes...

Anyone know if Chocobos now have the ability to reach these new colors? I'd love to upgrade my snow white choco to pure white...

While I'm happy at the new dyes, I'm not happy that they are only obtainable through ventures. Untradeable? Fine. Make them craftable, droppable, something other than ventures.
