I'd assume the maintenance isn't limited to adding dyes. As stated several times over, they don't announce patches for bugs that can be abused as, well....people would abuse them.

Perhaps, also, with the servers being down it could give them time to perform any preventative maintenance necessary that could not be performed while the servers are up.

Keep in mind that server maintenances ofter are for more than just introducing hotfixes. The time can be used to do quick hardware upgrades for example. To update system security software. Etcetera. None of which is interesting to mention in patch notes, but critical for keeping the overall experience smooth.

True, they could just say that though. I would totally understand general server maintenance as a valid reason for bringing down servers. Maintenance doesn't really bug me even though it is in the middle of my usual play time. I really just thought it was amusing that the special dyes showed up as a hotfix ^^;
