I might be a bad scholar when it comes down for me to DPS but on average I do as much dps as a tier three melee limit break on T8. That's about about 6% damage. I might as well heal the entire fight not switching to cleric stance not even once and pump out heals.

You're capable of putting out at least half as much DPS as your top actual DPS in most groups; well over half in parts where you don't need to do any active healing or buffing whatsoever. It's definitely worth it to assist in DPS when possible.
