    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    So you mean to tell me they can't take what they have in a 12 year old almost out dated (still good in some ways) game and reuse in a new version. I mean if you use the setup from FFXI it can be done. You give the players the option to set whatever skills they wanted with limits without them over doing it making other jobs in the game useless. Because I can easily see Blue Mage as a DPS/Support job. As like in Final Fantasy XI you can't reset spells during battle and you get so many spell points per level.

    give DRG what ?

    Fire breath I'll agree. The other DRG skills are frost breath and thunder breath. There is no way DRG would have access to bad breath. It has nothing to do with DRG

    1st - FFXI is not FFXIV, now is it?

    2nd - If they add Blue Mage (I don't care if they do or not really.) I am sure they will have a similar system with a mix of a system built just for Blue Mage.

    3rd - Lmfao, really? Why Dragoons? Do they not spend most of their time laying under the feet of the boss anyways? Go back to dying on every 2-3 boss fights and stop thinking like a child.

    Still wouldn't work. Most of the bosses (The important part of tough fights) in this game are immune effects which would make BLU decent. Your example in that thread, Bad Breath, when would you use that? So basically, you're a watered down black/white mage who can be cool every 2 minutes with lackluster abilities. There just are not any abilities worth using from monsters in the game currently. The cool ones are just reskinned versions of abilities that we already have, made OP because it's an NPC. (Lancer jump in Hat HM. Spirits without, really?)

    No elements, so breaths and fireballs are pointless. No monster families, so monster specific skills are pointless. BLU would basically suck if were to go that route. They would have to change and invent an entirely new system for BLU, while changing the game for everyone else. It just won't happen as the game currently stands.

    Wat? A SMN is a BLM with a pet and dots. There is nothing new and exciting about SMN. Is it a different playstyle from BLM? Sure, but there isn't any sort of whole new system for SMN.

    I fail to see where this is going.

    Anything could work if the devs want it to, however copy-paste XI BLU is obviously a no go.

    As for suggestions?
    What if BLU unlocked "stances" like SMN unlocks pets? Somekind of additional bar with three or four monster abilities.
    For example at lv 30 it could get "Cloudkin stance" with your job quest, it has "Wing Cutter", "White wind" and so on, then at lv 35 you could quest "Vilekin stance", then "Wavekin" at lv40 etc.
    Tone down healing and tanking abilities and it could be a DPS job with some support like SMN or even BRD.
    This is just a quick suggestion anyway, I'm sure the devs could do much better if they really wanted to implement it.

    Blue Mage is a very iconic FF job (along with many others), writing it off simply because "it wont work" sounds like an excuse to me, especially when the team had no problems reworking SMN,BRD etc into something quite different from their previous incarnations.

    I didn't read the answer as they won't make BLU. I read it more like, it would be difficult, but something we might try if we find a good solution. It bothers me they think it is an issue that some might get shunned because they don't have spell X because it just shows how much they are restricting themselves (outside of an already really crappy class/jobb system), but hopefully they find a good solution they are happy with that makes it into the game because <3 BLU.
