Now that Nexus is out... still a good idea to put piety on Blm Novus or no?

Heya, so I was just wondering that since we now have Nexus and see how it upgrades stats and stuff, is it still a good idea to put piety on the Blm Novus to bring up my piety to the 251 mark or is that now a bad thing to do and I should find a way to swap my 6 piety on my piece for either SS or Det?

It was always a bad idea to put Piety on the Novus. At least you can switch it out now.

Go test it for yourself by reallocating your stats in int for piety, see how you get an extra cast in Astral fire, an extra fire 2, when you don't have a sch, a better flowing rotation even when using thunder 1, and then think oh wait I'm only sacrificing 6-9 determination which is 3-6 extra damage total per cast, if you are using ss food even less. Also trusting a calculator that ignores movement, cast speed in relation to mob skills, ignores procs, and has competition with another just as good calculator one saying ss is the best stat the other saying determination, which if you look at scientific theory, then that fails on both accounts. Literally you are loosing at most 6 dmg per fire 3 cast by trading the determination for reduced time in umbra ice and increase time in Astral fire.

If you are doing end game content (which is what min-maxing is for) without a scholar, then you have group composition issues. Its not a "better flowing rotation" at all.

Spellspeed is even better with movement. You don't need to cancel as many casts, and it gives you a slightly better advantage when cast clipping. The calculator doesn't ignore Proc's, and there is no other calculator that competes with it. If you do have some data to back yourself up, feel free to post it in Puro's thread, i'll be interested to see if its accurate at all or if its just the usual "Hurr durr i don't like spellspeed so its bad".

Hmm, well is it possible to remove the piety stat from the scroll now or do I have to wait until I've made it into Nexus? Currently it only has 6 piety.

No it isn't a bad idea. Honestly Harold here is one of those players who abides by theory 100% without regards to real world application.

Theoretically, yes... it is a DPS loss to put Piety on it. However even after all the debate no one has given any hard numbers on how much it costs. In addition having 250 lets you toss a F2 into a Convert along with the Flare. Also remember the numbers are for a static target, not an actual fight where you have mechanics to deal with that potentially can slow down your rotation by a couple seconds.

Do what you want on your Novus, I for one am not paying 750k per DET IV to have an extremely minor DPS increase.

One thing you could do if you still want that 251 is remove the Piety that is extra for without a SCH. For myself I would only need 1 PIE to hit the 244 needed. You could then toss the rest into CRIT or something if you so choose. It is better to use a Novus stat point to hit that number than one of the bonus points you get leveling as those are needed in INT.

Well currently my scroll already has 6 piety on it since I had it infused with the idea of my Lalafell, but I race changed into Elezen and saw I would need 2 more Piety on it to adjust it, but figured I'd ask first before I touched it anymore and see since I read on another forum that the increase to stats for Nexus gets funky if you have 3 stats so wanted to make sure I was still in the clear of I needed to fix it. Currently I'm just working on the Spell Speed and up to 27/75 so far.
