You know the routes are set by ISP not SE or the MMO company'sive done all these. and i know how "the internet works" The issue seems to be partly on both parties. prior to the update in December/February the game ran great at peak hours. once the update came out, that's when the connection crapped out. so i came to one of the 2 conclusions.
1. SE is using a new network route to connect the games to its servers since the update which is causing the issue. and to resolve it they will need to revert it back but may not want to due to pricing they have to pay for the connection path.

Whenever I get lag it's happening to other people as well. Instances of this are occuring more often these days. Last fall I never experienced lag at all in FFXIV. This year it began at peak times right after big patch releases. Now it happens at random times and it's getting worse. Two nights ago in ST everything repeatedly froze for 10-15 seconds, then bursted back up to speed. I had never seen lag that bad in this game. Many others were experiencing the same thing. I think it's reasonable to conclude that SE's servers are the problem here.
Or maybe its your Internet Provider.
Im playing in EU server and I'm living in Asia and i have never encounter any lag at all.

That sounds to me like ISP throttling or a bad hop between you and the server. Have you done any form of detective work to find out where the problem is coming from? Or did you just assume it was SE's fault like the OP did? SE isn't perfect and they've been known to have the occasional "server problem", but in the vast majority of cases when people have connection issues in the manner that you and the OP are describing it's due to their ISP or something else in between.Whenever I get lag it's happening to other people as well. With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
Have you tried plugging and unplugging your monitor?

I play on one of the most populated realms during peak hours and have never even once witnessed lag that wasn't the fault of my ISP. Every other program I had open was lagging too. Want to know what my internet options are in my area? They're AT&T (which I used to have), Comcast (which I currently have business class) and local dial-up. Though my issues tend to be beyond both the abilities of Comcast AND Square-Enix. The majority of my packet loss tends to be when it leaves the Chicago hub and crosses into Canada. And the impression I get from my Canadian acquaintances is that Canada isn't exactly known for its great internet (unlike, say, Sweden). Luckily, I tend to get lag spikes the day of (or after) there's been a patch.
That's because Verizon was intentionally throttling their client's when they used Netflix and Verizon refused to "fix" it until Netflix agreed to pay Verizon's equivalent to a mob shakedown. And keep in mind that Verizon INTENTIONALLY bottlenecks their clients' traffic at the L3 line. And they blame L3 (because L3 doesn't want to pay their mobster extortion cost).

I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.

OP, if everyone on your server is experiencing your lag then it is SE at fault. If no one else is experiencing your lag then it is on your end.
Did you bother to ask other people on your server if they were getting lag? How can you get angry at SE for something that is not something they can control? It is not their responsibility to look after cable connections, they can look after their servers but they don't look after anything else.

I am in Europe and you wouldn't believe the amount of hops I have to make to get to Canada (location of servers).
Guess what, minimal lag. Sometimes, just sometimes it gets in the way but that's mostly during the big Ex fights.
There are several factors that come into play, your hardware set up, your computers own latency which you can remove, your router, are you on LAN or WLAN and finally, your ISP.
Unless the whole server and other servers are experiencing the same lag, it's n
