Ever since the update at the beginning of the year, the lag has been getting worse and worse. to the point that i cant even play at night. the fact that i need to pay for another program such as WTFast to resolve the issue is an insult. so ya, thanks SE for the remake of a beautiful game that started great, but now is garbage in my eyes.

1. Don't expect those who have never experienced your lag to understand what you've been through, and don't try to convince them, you're only wasting your time
2. Pay for 3rd party routing services or don't play, your choice; the system is not going to be changed for the minority (yes you're the minority, unfortunately, so deal with it)

1. SE is using a new network route to connect the games to its servers since the update which is causing the issue. and to resolve it they will need to revert it back but may not want to due to pricing they have to pay for the connection path.

SE doesn't set the route, your ISP does.

2. Verizon with level3 conflict that is causing the issue. As i know MANY people on the verizon network is having this issue. verizon is well aware of the issue. so yes it could be an ISP issue. but they could do what they did in the past with comcast and FFXI and actually contact them to help get the issue resolved quickly. but that doesn't seem to be happening.

so yep. im done.

Its not just Verizon, any ISP around the world that connects to north america via the USA, via Level 3 or other lastmile/intermediary networks are affected. Some are just more willing to fix their routing than others (they actually respect the people who keep them in business).

Netflix and Verizon just got out of a fight that went on for nearly a *year* about this exact same thing. You think FFXIV has anywhere near the weight of Netflix? Verizon could not care less about XIV.

SE can't do anything until Level3 resolves their peering issues.

What would the thread prove exactly? That people overestimate the actual power SE has against a third party? This is kind of like people blaming the President of the United States for high gas prices.

The fact remains that there's largely nothing SE can do about a problem on a level3. They can contact who actually controls it, but at the end of the day SE and their customers alike are at the mercy of the third party and whatever they decide to do.

Well,..... your example kinda falls flat, as a government is supposed to subsidise to the benefit of its people . . . though understandbly currently they do so at the benefit of corporation so i'll let you have it for now . . .

Not the best example, I'll admit. Though my point was the President can't just call someone up and force the oil companies to lower prices. Just like SE can't call various ISPs and demand that they fix their nodes or stop throttling their customers.
