People aren't thinking things through clearly. Anima makes a broken game and needs to be capped a bit more when airships and chocos come out. Its not about what you want it's about what makes a decent/not broken game. And I'm confident Yoshi will do exactly that; cap it.

I think teleportion should go away when all the other modes of transportation come into play too. I dont think they will do it tho, since Yoshida likes it for casual players with not much time to play. There are people that still wont have enough time to ride a chocobo too...

Hell there are probably aethercite nodes at the new settlements for those with time constraints.

Anima teleportation should be done via Aetheryte or NPC only, period.

The idea that NPC's are able to anima teleport someone is through a specific item, that a player may obtain through some means so that he/she may anima teleport as one currently does.

I am not a fan of God Mode in any game. Not Final Fantasy XIV, and certainly not Call of Duty....

    No.
Currently, the anima system cheapens an already dull world. They need to make limitations on it AFTER the world has been redesigned and AFTER other transport methods are available.

Currently, the game feels like a lobby where you select where you want to level and teleport there. That's not a good game design. They could easily make teleporting a -paid- service like it was in XI through OP warps. The issue is that the world needs to be redesigned so it doesn't feel like you're in a scrolling game watching the exact same scenery for the 10th time within 5 minutes. If the landscape was actually unique and not copy pasted to artificially pad the zone, then it wouldn't take 30 minutes to run that distance, nor would you get irritated with not being able to port everywhere. Everything currently looks the same, of course people aren't going to want to run through that over and over. The point is to make the zones smaller and a hell of a lot more diverse.

I agree with the suggestion of making teleporting cost gil and only able to use it from NPCs or outposts/camps or something.

I liked the idea of Anima from the git-go. FFXI's magic centered travel left a lot to be desired, and the introduction of Abyssea greatly cut down on travel time and expenses. The downside to that was, it used to be really profitable to magic transport people (Teleport, Recall, D2, Retrace), and that is now pretty much the last option anyone chooses.

I think I'd still like to see magic transportation spells introduced in FFXIV just to add some flavor. Maybe put teleport crystals in locations that make it convenient for people to travel to cities or remote dungeons. It gives people an incentive to level a mage job without practically FORCING them to, like replacing Anima with teleport spells would do. I'd like to see both options exist side-by-side.

Also, in FFXI the cities were divided into zones, and after completing a quest, you could exit your "Mog House" (your home that a moogle took care of for free for some unknown reason) to any zone in that city. And in Windurst, one of the largest cities, there were NPCs that would teleport you to other parts of the city. Using those in tandem, it took a lot of headache out of traversing the city.

One thing I'll say really really sucks and is completely unnecessary, and has been commented on in several reviews, is the extremely long "zone line" to exit some cities such as Gridania. It's like a 5 minute trek through all those canopied tunnels just to leave the city. If I had a catch phrase to sum up my feelings about that, I'd say "wrap it up" (link may not be safe for work).

I wouldn't argue if they increased cost of teleporting, and reduced cap to 50. Once chocobos and airship is out. But don't remove the system, it's great. It's just like outposts in FFXI. Only a little bit more convenient.

I find it funny that if they did remove it all those now crying for it's removal would be the first ones on here crying that it's too hard to get around now.

Yeah you would, just like all the other time you screamed for this or that, and found you hated it when you got it.

Be carefull what you wish for, you may just get it.

I don't mind if they add a cost, or whatever, but lets face it, if you use it the way it is now you soon run dry and have to run or pay another to transport you. Well I would say the other transport option will come into play in very few of these cases. If you want to stop the abuse of the tele system, then fix the economy. I mean come on I just got 60k gil for 10 minutes effort, so if I run out of tele I can just afford to hire a taxi and pay the 10k to get to where I want to go. So while gil is showered down on us there will aways be abuse of the system.

Then again I like the gil so I don't mind if they don't change that. Hell I like the tele system too. Would not be so bad if it was removed when they make it so you are not forced to go to other cities all the time and then when you get there they send you back. Either they keep the tele system or fix the quests and guilds so you can do all in the one city.

Other option is if they do change it a bit after they introduce Chocobos, make it so that there is a fast travel system for the hired Chocobos when a long distance is involved and maybe for the airships too.

Don't get me wrong, the teleport system is good to have. It's its implementation that is screwing my mind up. And to be able to harness the inert power to warp by sheer will is absurd. The people of Eorzea are not telepathic. Aetheryte contain the material data that can transport a soul to another device via a link between them. Mini aetheryte codex Key Items(r/ex-like), that wear after 100 anima use on it should replace the idea that it's simply free will exploit, and characters should no longer contain this anima phenomenon. Here's an example of what I mean:

Aetherytes(include city-states/camps) by default contains 100 anima, this would be universal for all Aetheryte.Consumption cost the same as it does now(Anima regen is 4hrs), yet is stored on Aetheryte instead of character(here's why):

Aetheryte Key Items contain a certain ammount of anima for portable transportation, i.e. 50 anima. Once depleted the Key Item is automatically removed from inventory. These key items may be obtained as rewards from leves, certain NPC's or raids. One key item of all grades (grade 1 = 10 anima, grade 5 = 50 anima, etc.) can be held at once, like Unique & Untradable.
