my leve run gave me bad SP and grinding is something many players are trying to keep away from the "old fashioned", not to go back to it. cant speak for raids since my LS only has 10 out of 101 people on at any time, 5 of them AFK.

hows tanking and keeping enmity in dungeons holding up? how good is leveling in dungeons?

    Hi All,

Some other new observations from Patch 1.18 so far...

    • Just ran into my first Frontier / Settlement: The Coffer & Coffin near Camp Horizon in Thanalan. It's nice.

There's nothing to do there yet, *but* it provides a nice Landmark to the empty desert in Western Thanalan. And for those thinking it's just "copy & paste", it looks pretty distinct to me. Nice hut, fireside NPC chatting it up with you and the Chocobo "Kwehs!" (and you can Sit at the encampment and relax). (Update: I just got sent to a Settlement for New Side Quest. Joy.)
    • Local (Crafting) Guildleves are pretty nice: I'm getting the same good SP per synth, *and* getting an SP Bonus for turning it in (got about ~1,100 SP Bonus on a Rank 20 Crafting Leve in addition to my regular SP I got).

    Hi Dreadnought,

I really like Tanking now. Before, the Stamina Bar really made getting your Defensive skills activated feel SLOW. Now, it's so much faster (and feels great) to hop in and get Aegis Boon II, Sentinel, Deflection up as soon as you press a button (no more super long lag in your Stamina Bar to fill up).

As for Enmity, it's a fight (in a good way). I like it. It's making you try and build up hate, and the new Rage of Halone (awesome animation!) and damage boost on that makes it fun to fight and gain back enmity that way.

The Ogre is tough, though. Ogres normally have Hate-Reset moves anyways, and on this fight you lose Enmity fast, but it's early. I still need more time to try out this new system.

that sounds cool for bosses, but what about "trash" mobs/weaker mobs in your way? i mean, how quickly can you generate the right amount of enmity to plow through the lesser importants and how well can mages heal during all of that? so far no one has invited me to a dungeon so i have no idea.

    Hi Dreadnought,

On the regular Dzemael mobs, it's a fight right now. If I go in first and grab first enmity / hate (w/ "blinking red" status), it feels a bit easier to keep hate than if another party member grabbed hate first.

AOE Buffs like Protect II / Shell II on the whole party while you're fighting can make me lose my top enmity status, but that was the same way even before this patch. War Drum feels a bit nerfed though, I rarely see a big spike in Enmity when I use it with multiple mobs. But adding in a Circle Slash II helps get some of it back.

I'll post more thoughts on it after the 2nd day's experience with 1.18. Thanks.

I have tested out guild leves since patch, seem ok to do still i got to test out near death alot after doing a leve agaisnt cacturs , 1000 needles = alot of deaths , the weapon took about 10 gear damage per death which is a fair bit.

The first few quest of uldah companys are extremly intresting , need do so more.

The mp cost of healing spells/abilitys has gone up but this is off set by fact my mp is refreshing while not in combat mode.

The auto attack for me is the major thing that no one is really talking about , first few fights i was thinking is it on?
It took few to get used to it , unlike ff11 there is no attack command , you highlight monster and it goes off.
Speed of it i still unsure about , time will tell if its good thing but seem to do fair bit damage with attacks , overall not to much of a difference from before except less spamming the attack actions and stamina bar gone .

Will get some time to try out new side quests and try do a raid at some point over next few days.
As for mission changes , they changed all ones up to one i just did lol , oh well ill get to rank 30 soon enough.

Would be cool if we could redo the main quests at some point in future though.

    Hi

Those of you infecting this thread with your negativity, lay off and go to the negative threads to vomit all over the place. Nice to see a positive thread going for once, and I actually enjoyed reading it. So let's keep things constructive and positive in this one please, which I'm also glad to see happening. kthx =)

Notice how the positive threads' OPs get a lot more thumbs up over the negative ones

BTW, I only started playing recently, and yes have had troubles post 1.18 with SP, but heck, if things need to be changed, they will be. Go with the flow, the game is still recovering.

Mob sp is off the charts I'm getting 390 at level 41 for killing level 49 mobs (alone or in a group) at the beast man camps which respawn fast. The exp stopped being good on the 49s at 44 (dropped to 128), so just kill things around 8 ranks higher.

Thank you OP, your posts are very refreshing. I have the same outlook and opinions as you, the game is getting better. Lets make it better by being the best supporting community. This game has huge potential and it will be even better then FFXI.

Congrats to the entire FFXIV Team, you guys are awsome!
