Seeing how some people are, I wouldn't be surprised if they did so.

Even if they did, you can undo a blacklist. You can't undo a roll.

Now, it makes sense that they don't want you to be able to cancel a roll and re-roll again, but they can just let you change a roll to a pass. It's not much of a change to leave the Pass button active and have it override the Need/Greed result. Heck, they could let you stage down to change a Need roll to a re-roll on Greed and a Greed roll to a pass, or just go straight to pass.

I almost always pause and roll/pass on everything in the first 10 seconds, so if someone wanted a specific drop, or if they had asked and I forgot, I can't change my roll to let them have it. Sure it's my error, but I'm not the one it's a problem for.

yesterday I was doing DR Trials, I got garuda HM, and everyone was.. I dunno, in so much hurry that we cleared it il something like 3 minutes.
I didn't even had time to check what weapon was in the loot, that I already had it in my inventory, while everyone was already out of the duty.

with ST... just roll the item you REALLY need, at last.
if everyone has passed it before you get the chance to roll, you still obtain it... it's a win-win situation.
if you press the wrong button, boy, you made the mistake, you pay the price xD

Don't see why people are against this. With the amount of grind this game requires, there are many times you just want to get the run over with and start the next so you click things fast as a result. It's not like this OP asked for a redesign of the whole system as some of you say, but that after clicking need or greed, the pass button is not greyed out until the item actually goes to one person's inventory.

I don't see how that hurts anyone or how a person who loots on things fast while grinding endlessly makes him "stupid" or less good than you. (but i guess you try to look for things to feel superior about **on the internet** lol)

I also had quite a few times I rolled on items for galmour even though i wore much high lvl one. But then someone asked for it, in order to use, i'd be more than happy to pass my otherwise rolled item.

Yes, because keeping the "pass" button active is OH SO GAME BREAKING! OMGAR!!!111ONEONE. So if I accidentally roll on those healing pants, I can't pass so that the actual healer may get them... because... horrors of some kind...!!

You would have a foot if we were asking for change greed to need or something... but we're asking to change need/greed to PASS! We do NOT want the loot, how is that horrible? Oh... I know... you have more people competing for the sands and oils... WAAAAAAAH WAAAAAAAAH!

While folks deride the OP's reasons for being selfish, not being satisfied with what he got, his own fault, etc, etc, there are other reasons that allowing a player to switch their lot from Need or Greed to Pass.

For example, in regular dungeon runs, I routinely Greed lot equipment drops, since I can trade them in for Grand Company points or desynth them. Sometimes, though, a player wants a specific piece of gear, and I honestly have no issue with letting them have it. But if they ask for it after it's already dropped and I've rolled - well, that's too late. I'd retract my roll if I could, but I can't.

In raids, it can be a similar problem; if you were unaware that someone needed a piece of gear for their alt job and lotted it before they spoke up, well, you can't take it back. Admittedly, this is less common since raid groups are usually pretty well-prepared as to who is interested in which drops.

I can't see much in the way of potential abuse for allowing a player to change their lot to a Pass. The reverse would obviously be out of the question - tons of abuse potential if someone can change a Pass to a lot. That's not what we're asking for, though.

I really don't see any downside to this request.

Well... except that the first iteration for gamepad users would probably make it too easy to accidentally switch to pass after you'd rolled (they tend to make poor choices for the default "confirm" action and/or not consider different controller settings like toggle/mixed/hold for hotbar activation). So, y'know, they'd have to not be stupid about that to begin with and/or hotfix the stupid quickly.
