    Controller becoming unresponsive periodically

    Hi,
i may have stumbled into a gamebreaking probelm.
Since launch, i was playing on an older PC with Windows Vista, there i had absolutely no problems with FF at all. Roughly one month ago, i got myself a never PC running Windows 8.1 and theat was the day my problem started.

My wireless xBox360 controller seemd to get stuck in inputs i gave periodically. My char keeps moving after i stopt pushing the stick, buttons wont recognice and i cant move, if i am standing still whilte the problem strikes. Its kind of if the controller freezes at the input i give him at that time, not allowing me to do anything while it lasts.

It always comes in 3 short waves bevore i can hope to play for some minutes normally.

I started to try some hints i found googeling, bought two new controllers, wired ones to eliminate the possebillity that something destrubs the signal of the wireless ones. I even conneckted a PS2 controller, using a USB adaptor. But nothing i tried helped.

I found out, that it always happens, when my Device Manager refreshes itself. Everytime it reloads its list, the controller refuses to recognice my inputs.

I allready cleaned the Device Manager from all unused entries, camped it hoping to see something suspicius while it refreshes, but i could not find anything.

The controller works just fine in all my other games and programms, the problem is only present in FFXIV.
I updated and reinstalled the driver for the controller, deactivated the power management for the USB ports and shut off the home network on my PC.

Now i do not know what to do to fix that problem. All posts i found are quite old and didn't help me fix it.

Device manager only refreshes when a device change occurs, so you already have something connecting/disconnecting to cause this.

Do your port forwards. It's an odd problem that I had. Completely disappeared after I did my port forwarding.

Should note that the registry key for controlling the enhanced power management may not be present once you locate your device ID in the registry. You can right-click and create it as a new DWORD (32).

This can solve some very strange issues with your USB ports. Aside from being the fix for my PS3 knock-off controller, it also resolved that annoying crap where my USB3.0 hard drives would go into standby and would fall back to USB2.0 mode when they woke up. Didn't happen with the thumb drives, only the big 1TB hard drive I used for the full backups. Makes a big difference when you're dealing with 20+GB backups.

There is absolutely no possible way a port on a router will cause a computers device list to refresh.
