Still feels like everyone is a mute

So call me old fashioned but when I go about my day I expect people to actually speak to me. The fact that NPCs don't even murmur something when you click on them, let alone say anything at all, kind of makes the world feel lifeless.

And, while I'm at it, have you ever noticed that monsters don't even complain when you kill them. They just stand there and maybe fall onto their back or curl up into a ball every so often (which are nice touches, I don't deny). But the point is, they barely exhibit any kind of expressive behaviour.

There really needs to be more vocalisation. If it's too much to ask to have important quests voiced, then at least just give the NPCs a few words to say. You know, here and there. And the mobs too, they need to be more expressive.

And here I thought you were going to be talking about the players who never say anything in game, at least where I am.

Old fashioned? I thought the good old days was when NOTHING was voiced in video games. I always liked Cloud more before I heard his voice. I would have preferred text over voice in FFXIII.

I like XIV better when there are no voices. I like to invent the voice in my head as I am reading. Half the time, voiced characters sound exactly the opposite of how I would imagine them, which leads me to be turned off by the character.

10/14/11 - FFXIV community civil war erupts. "I'm paying and the game is gonna be awesome." VS. "I'm leaving and the game is gonna die." Let the battles begin!

You obviously never heard Papalymo then if you hate FFXIV voiceovers.

So you'd rather they murmur one annoying phrase every single time you talk to them? Stuff like that is okay the first few times but with NPCs you talk to often it gets pretty annoying. The majority of conversations are text based, I'm sure anyone who's actually played more than the most recent FF are used to this.

The game isn't fully voiced nor was it ever advertised. Could they do it? Sure but it would take a lot of time and money they simply don't have and won't have any time soon. Could they add little flavor speech? Sure but again time and money they simply don't have right now.

I'm not sure what you mean with the monsters though. They seem to find it pretty offensive when you start beating on them with your weapon, expressed by them trying to MURDER you. Some of the monsters do have death/attack sounds also.

Well maybe they could have alternating expressions when you clicked on them so you didn't get bored. But really, how many times do you click on an NPC anyway. It's pretty hard for them to be repeating offenders when you're likely to never speak to an NPC more than once anyway besides the guildleve counter one (and that's probably about to change)

It just gets kind of boring running around in a world full of mutes.

And as for mobs, if you watch a video like this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hvw2F...eature=related

you can tell that mob is angry. it's much more expressive than an FFXIV mob.

Also, maybe if SE chose to voice their NPCs it would stop their writers from being so verbose.

Never said I hated them. I just prefer no VA to VA. Get an all-star cast and I'm sold, but I'd rather not suffer through countless cringe-worthy voices just to hear a few epic ones.

Well I trust SE's judgment to employ good voice actors, and I have no real reason to doubt them so far as far as FFXIV's concerned.

For those of us that would like Voiceovers, isn't it a little selfish to put yourself first when you can just turn them off.

Stop whining about such pointless shit, this game still needs more of everything else before they touch on the NPC's having stupid side conversations with you.
