Primal Mounts As Chocobos Instead Of Horses

Seriously though, I like the unicorn mount for levelling CNJ, and even the nightmare one is really cool looking, but yeah, it is now starting to get a little ridiculous with instead of getting interesting new (non beastmen) mounts, all that's been added are just pallette swapped horse mounts. And yes, this is Final Fantasy, chocobos should be taking priority over horses (in fact, the game's story even eluded to the fact that Eorzea's geography is better suited to chocobos than horses). But I digress...

Actually I agree SE did drop the ball with horses and especially unicorns - seriously its Lore breaking of an epic kind imo.

So far as I can telling having played VII through to XIV:ARR [including the awful X-2 and the better (than X-2) XIII-2] they havent been horses or unicorns in the FF series before, so it just seems really weird that after 25+ years they'd suddenly include them.
I understand (and love) that FF borrows from mythology, old relgions and even the real world for its summons/primals/monsters etc but its fantasy creatures have usually been original and unique to FF like the Chocobo and Moogles, so why suddenly include a real world mount (Horse) and a popular (cliche'd imo) fantasy creature like the unicorn?
Seems like a weird attempt to normalise the FF universe to first time players lol. I mean sure I thought it was odd at first when I played VII and found myself riding on a giant chicken but I figured 'hey its got 'fantasy' in the title so just go with it'

I'd prefered some kind of special chocobo or a dragon, or some cool mini-version of the Primals to ride a round on instead of unicorns.

That being said, what's wrong with primal-based choco barding? The drop rate on primal crafting items may be low but it's much higher than the horses. Though I suppose it would be nice to have barding retroactive to the older primals too (and primal-theme armor).

I don't use any mount other than my chocobo. I might use a normal brown or black horse if they ever gave us one, but all the horses have stupid looking glow effects or are draped in ugly clunky armor.
