    1 Penta-Melded Ring

    Hiyas

I just switched from MNK to PLD for my static, currently i101ish... gear looks like:

    Weap - Burtgang
    Shield - Levi X

    Head - ST
    Chest - W Noct
    Hands - W Noct
    Belt - ST
    Legs - W Noct
    Boots - W Noct
    Neck - HA
    Ears - W Noct
    Wrist - Noct
    Ring1 - Noct
    Ring2 - Allagan

I have 1 sands and 1 oil sitting around - the oil is for my shield if I don't get HA in coil this week when I get the sol next week, or my ears if I do. The sands is for whatever I feel like as I have the i110 Burtgang.

Instead of holding out for the HA ring, I was going to go ahead and penta-meld one. My question is what is the best base ring / meld to do that meets the following criteria:

1 - Flexible (not designed to BiS with my accuracy JUST at cap)
2 - Affordable (I have about 2 mil to spend)
3 - Effective (in providing enough vit/accur/par for it to work)

    I off-tank everything in coil, Slugs, T7, T8, I will OT T9.

    Thanks!

    Ruby.

    Acc4/Vit4/Vit4/Det3/Det3 - "Budget", 3 det below cap.

    Det4/Acc4/Vit4/Vit4/Det3 - "Semi-budget", 1 det below cap.

    Det4/Det4/Acc4/Vit4/Vit4 - Optimum, det capped.

If you really want Topaz for whatever reason, same melds but with STR instead of VIT obviously.

If you need a few misc pieces to meet accuracy I would hold onto a few i90 pieces that won't affect your overall tankiness that much if you absolutely need to downgrade: Allagan i90 shield, Myth fending belt.

If you offtank, carry around some STR accessories. Widens your options.

Ruby or Topaz both work, depending on whether you like SS vs Parry. I recommend you to no go cheap on those melds as your investment will just go to waste.

A good meld could be something like Savage Might IV, Heaven's Eye IV, Str/Vit IV, Str/VIT IV, Savage Might III/II. This might be pretty expensive, depending on the prices on your server. @2 million it might be difficult to get a good ring because of the large amount of RNG on your overmelds. If you aren't prepared to break the bank, I would honestly just get the Ramuh, Gloam, or Weathered Noct rings instead.

Exactly what I was looking for - <3 you. I have full i110 HA/Sol accessories from my MNK that I wear in T8.

Mmm I didn't think of the Ramuh ring... that's a fantastic point. I think I've gotten to about 20% on him on my MNK. My main problem is lack of time to play, I don't have 2 hours to finish learning/farm the fight. I get about 7 hours to play a week and 6 of those are in coil. Thank you very much though, maybe if I get some free time I'll get Ramuh on lockdown and get his ring.

The Ramuh Ring is a really nice 110 tanking ring if you are Off-Tanking.

I penta-melded a Ruby Accessory to Det IV, Acc IV, Vit IV, Vit IV, Det III but got really lucky with the melds and it didn't cost me anywhere near to what it potentially could have.

But if Off-Tanking is all you do, why not use some of your 110 Slaying Accessories from your Monk? This will obviously depend on how much you trust your healers, and as an OT Warrior on Turn 7, I find the first three adds actually hit harder than the actual boss, so I keep my Vit accessories here for the extra cushion - Less room for error. We also switch for Prosecutor so my Paladin buddy can just use Hallowed. Then I switch to Monk for Turn 8 as we run solo tank. But OTing Turn 9 I go full DPS (30 STR, 4/5 Slaying 110 Accessories, Ruby Choker).

One thing I would like to add to the advice on melds is that the order you do your melds in should be based on materia prices. You don't have to do them in the order people have suggested if your server materia prices are different. You only have one guaranteed slot, after which your chance of success drops dramatically (I think it is somewhere near 30% for a lvl 4 materia in slot #2. I usually put a lvl 3 materia and have a 35%). By the time you get to your fifth materia, it is close to 10%. Depending on your luck and server prices, some of these melds may not even be possible with 2 mil. On my server, Det 4's run about 450k. For me, any meld that isn't 100% at that price is out of the question. Make sure your guaranteed slot gets the most expensive materia you're going to use. You can save a lot of money by doing level 3 materials for other melds (Det 3, for example, are like 9k on my server).

Since I'll use HA ring when I get it, this is more of a temporary boost to help my group learn T9. Since we are learning right now and not worried about hard enrage, I'm trying to get as much vit and defense as I can for the time being to make Beaks/explodes/golems easier on everybody to learn. I think I started OTing T8 as full VIT accessories and now I'm using all STR ones (pulled 198 dps as PLD last night! lol I suck).
