No FC room, no personal house... big deal??

I am pleased to see you have found my FC but am disappointed that you are unsatisfied with my houses.
Please understand; the XHFL empire is like a giant hungry Apkallu who likes to eat up empty housing plots
and poop out gardens... it cannot be stopped!
Please stop being mean to it or it will waddle over to your servers and gobble up all your empty housing plots as well!

Nice Roleplay thought there, but the reason why
it's empty is because no one can afford it people who are trying to save up can't because you're taking them all.
It's really rude, especially since the prices are insane right now, and there isn't enough wards.
This is why we're saying ONE HOUSE PER ACCOUNT.

I want to know how many of you have FC house... Don't take it the wrong way, but since my FC has a house, and I have a private room, I don't really see why I should have an own house.

So, are you mad about this price because you don't have any house at all, or do you all want to have both FC house and an own house? Again, just wondering...

Personally, I hang out at my FC's house because that where my friends go when not doing something special, and hanging out at my own house would just take away that purpose all together... I don't enjoy fixing with the house, so that's probably why I don't mind this, but are everyone here enjoying the housing system in FFXIV this much, or are many of you just mad, because you want it to be right?

If the housing was like Wildstar for example(don't like the game otherwise), I would be all over it to be honest... because in Wildstar you have a big land to put out useful things for for crafting and whatnot... IMO FFXIV's housing system is pretty boring, and that's why I'm a little surprised people are reacting like this...

LOTRO doesn't even have the shortage issue we have here (as its servers are capable of handling a thousand or more wards), but it has the "one house per account on a server" rule. When you buy a house with any of your characters, all your characters on that server get that as their house, with full ownership rights from any of them. (Many of those rights, like visiting, decorating, and even access to your storage chest, you can also share with anyone else you want. Some ownership privileges, like a free port to your house and discounts at housing area merchants, are for the house owner only, but as mentioned, "house owner" means all of the characters on that account.)

SE should really have adopted the same rule, especially since availability is so much more limited here. If availability were unlimited, then I'd actually like the fact that we can have a house for each character. I'd get a Gridanian house for Y'kayah, an Ul'dahn house for Navarre, and a Limsan house for Dylise, so they can each live in the city whose Grand Company they support. But not when the number of houses is so limited. As it is, that's a pretty foolish pattern. (Ah well, at least if SE ever gets serious about fixing the availability problem, then the house-per-character rule might eventually work. It's only a problem because it's exacerbating something that's already a problem anyway.)

I want to share a house with a friend of mine so that we have gardens and stables to ourselves, both of us are leaders of our respective free companies and realise that the fc garden is for fc purposes, its use is determined by discussion etc... hell i'd be leaving the garden related stuff to said person that i want to share with for the most part.

Honestly no reason why shared housing couldn't be implemented, half the support are already in place by the fact that FC's get a house to share.

It'll be an even bigger issue once characters can marry each other, but I hope it won't be limited to married characters as being the only ones who can share a house. We should simply have a set of house privileges and the ability for a home owner to assign any of those privileges to any other character they wish. (And it shouldn't be limited to online characters only, like the Friend list is. We should be able to share a house either with a friend or with our own alts, or both, as we choose.)

I don't want a room in the FC, nor I need a personal house. What is all this fuss about personal house prices? If it is too high, don't buy it and wait for the price to come down. If other people have been saving up for this and can afford the prices now, more power to them.

Why are people complaining about a total optional vanity acquisition? Maybe they should have gated this behind a grind like atma?

Well you seem new to this game so give it time fun stuff like rooms homes and fun outfits may start to mean stuff to you

He's not the only one. There's another who posted in a different thread about how she does it for RP reasons.. Which I personally feel isn't right with such limited space.
