Fix the availability issue and I'm gold.
Fix the availability issue and I'm gold.
Or just an MMORPG pragmatist who has played through his share of developer blunders of the years to know that this, too, will be fixed and we will all move on. And, that, the problem isn't as big as people make it out to be.
I'm confused ... there are other MMOs where your character wouldn't have to chop off organs to afford housing plots.Housing is too expensive
But, is it? Every reward in an MMORPG comes with work. You wouldn't log onto an mmorpg and expect to be max level without any effort. You wouldn't expect to log into a new patch and be able to instantly grab the newest most powerful loot from new bosses.
MMORPGs are based off of delayed gratification and working hard for your goal. Housing is no different. If you only have 300,000G in your inventory, ask yourself: Have I truly been working towards affording a house? Have I been working as hard as I do in other aspects of the game? You probably spent a good 70-80 hours getting to level 50 for the first time. How many hours have you spent farming gil?
Like WS ... that's an early level feature :/
1. Play the markets or take 1 to 5 months working at casual-ish* player rate (30K gil a day, 33 days for depreciated house 133 for not).
Medium and large are in the years. SE based this off of RMT/and market board players (using the gil available to the server, and not the activities of general players), I say based off them since they would set the average amount of gil in the server way higher than a player who just logs on to do their dailies and plays a few hours on the weekends. For those who do want to make money, first level a crafter up with your own gathered stuff, then make spirit bound gear, now enjoy insane amount of money lol. Still I don't think SE should have calculated their numbers like that.
*(The 30K number comes from another thread where someone listed out a bunch of ways SE gives gil daily, it would take a few hours to finish)
2. Legacy server, not a single small house left.
3. ... really? (If you're an old FC good for you, screw the new ones? lol - although this issue directly related to the second one with availability)
Most commonly I see 2/3 being the issue with how the system works and 1 being that Yoshida gave out information that turned out to be wrong.
Kind of sounds like an apologist thread..

Personally I don't really care because I have an FC house and a room in that FC house and I like it. But I can see why people are pissed and why your OP is going to fall apart completely.
1) There are not enough plots. There aren't even enough plots for FCs. There are many FCs still wishing they could have a house, let alone players. Thousands upon thousands of players on servers, only several hundred plots.
2) Many rival MMOs (even very old ones) offer housing at the same level or greater than this game, for little to no cost.
3) One of these MMOs is Final Fantasy XI, also made by Square Enix, and is over a decade old. (*Note, a game that encourages spending a ridiculous amount of time to earn things, allows each and every player their own free house at the very start of the game. A game that had severe PS2 memory limitations.)
This is why people are complaining and there's no defense to the matter.
Edit: That said I am sure they are working on some sort of solution so I don't really encourage people to continue complaining about it when they've already responded to the situation. If it's still horribly broken in 2.4 maybe they should redo the entire housing system. But don't go around saying "oh it's not as bad as you think it is" when it is.

I don't get why people are getting so mad over this. Gil in this game is easy to get, and they said they are going to keep adding more wards so I don't see why people cant just wait for more houses and then buy one.
The prices alone don't bother me *too* much but I am disappointed that the personal housing is combined with FC housing. I really hoped that they'd be separate them somehow. But now we gotta compete with FC's for homes, and naturally, FC house prices.
I agree with some others on here saying that it sounds kinda like laziness on SE's part![]()
I don't see it as laziness, I see it as being efficient. People wanted pretty much everything that an FC house had in personal houses. Having them both be the same was the best way to do that. So now when SE adds housing stuff both types can get it.The prices alone don't bother me *too* much but I am disappointed that the personal housing is combined with FC housing. to the OP, my issue with personal housing isn't price(though I do think the med and large are a tad steep), it is that there are not enough for everyone and with the current system in place there never will be.
