Yeah I kinda take back what I said about the Battle system being lugish lol. I played around with it, and found how you auto-lock, and how you can turn your auto attack off and on during combat(without having to turn around). It's best to play with the little floating target node, cause it indicates when you are locked on and what not. Aside from that, Maybe shorten the process of engaging, and add a few words to guide players where they are in the process of engaging, and it will be perfect.
Yeah, people will have to give it time and use it more. The new system works fine, but people are so used to the previous system. Good job on figuring it out, other people most likely won't.Yeah I kinda take back what I said about the Battle system being lugish lol. What I use:
No mouse except in menus.
Target Nearest NPC: E
Camera Controls: W, A, S, D
Movement Controls: Num8, Num4, Num2, Num6
Switch View 1st/3rd: Num5
Tab: Num0/Ins
Lock Target: Num*
Cycle through party members: Q
Target party members: F keys
It's a bit similar to the control scheme in FFXI, which was the point.
Once you get used to it, it's just as functional as a controller (I own a controller, too).
Might be worth a shot.
It's actually extremely fluent, it also looks nice, and compared to previous system, it doesn't lag the character animations. I hope they add a good tutorial on the system soon, so new players don't have to go out and get a bad first impression about the system itself. However, I played with a controller, and that was easier to comprehend with less keys obviously, I still feel the key/mouse method might need enhancing. But then again I didn't play around long enough on that.
Hey guys, let's play an MMORPG on PC with a controller, sounds great.
The PS3 version was put on hold indefinitely, why are they continuing to shift the game to be more playable with a controller?
The auto attack engage is clumsy. You can even be locked on and it won't engage. The enemy could be beating on your face and it won't engage. Why did they not even implement auto attack properly?! The only benefit to this system is that I don't need an auto attack toggle skill on my incredibly limited action bar.
The movement in general feels more clunky and sluggish. And I use a controller. The auto-run feature has become really sensitive, a slight tap on the stick will f it up, even when trying to just turn left or right.
<cool FFXIV image here>
They need to give the game proper mouse support (like every other PC game on the market regardless of genre) and let us remap anything on the keyboard without needing third party software.
