Realistically, the features for 2.4 are already locked and in final testing/localization or they'll never get it out in about a month. So it's unlikely that you'll see a major change to the system that quickly. As soon as everyone's back from TGS, they'll probably start taking in the mountains of feedback and considering what the options are, but whatever they decide to do will probably happen gradually over time. I would bet on 2.45 at the soonest, and perhaps 2.48/2.5 is more realistic depending on what they plan. That said, I would expect that a clearer picture of the plan will be presented with 2.4.If they were smart, Private Rooms never would have been tied to FC houses. If they're learning, they'll get at least half of that in for 2.4. If everyone could have what is effectively half a small house, then I'd be perfectly fine with the actual housing market being a competitive scene for "I have too much Gil" d*ck waving.
Would it really be that difficult for them to just move Private Room access from Free Company Estates to the Inn NPCs?Realistically, the features for 2.4 are already locked and in final testing/localization or they'll never get it out in about a month. Wait... What am I asking; of course it would. It just took them nine months to switch off the Free Company requirement on purchasing land... Giving Inn Keeper NPCs a bit of extra text would make this much harder. Looking forward to 4.1 I guess...

All they have to do is create an NPC that would refund your gil, for those that bought a plot for themselves (only single players). This would free up the plots for FreeCompany use only. Yoshi could also remove any unneeded plots if there were too much around.
Then Yoshi and team just need to take their time and work on single player housing, instances. We would then pay gil to gain access to our, new, instance plot of land.
Seems simple enough to me.
...I only see Yoshi keeping this idea of gradually increasing plots, if he really wants to see a instance neighborhood, coming to fruition. In which case, he will ignore our cries for an instance single player, housing experience.

"You cannot simultaneously prevent and prepare for war."
Yes. I agree completely, except returning all items bound to the house in an unbound state too.
As I said earlier in this thread I would give over my small house for a refund IN A HEARTBEAT if they were going to redo it better. I would not mind waiting /at all/ to get something more fair for everyone. Especially if they added the ability to add expansions to your house to sink gil, then I could have a big house to work up to and it would be great.
Well, before selling our plot to the npc, we would just need to find the inventory space, needed, to gather our old furniture. Since we bought the furniture for our home in the first place. Yoshi wouldn't think we would want to have it un bind again. as we bought it for our home to begin with. So no need to unbind furniture we bought with the intention of placing in our personal home.Yes. I agree completely, except returning all items bound to the house in an unbound state too.

If Yoshi was nice.. he would create a Mover NPC that would hold our furniture till we were able to get a new instance house. A 50 slot, storage NPC(house items only).

This idea is good. I posted similar thoughts in another thread, this week. And to start it off all they need to do, is to give us persmission to move and add furniture around. This would tide us over till they code all the upgrades we could do later on. To tell you the truth, upgrading the inn is the most logical. Are npc for retainers are there, barber, mini games, chest for event items and diary(cut scenes)All they need to do is make Private Rooms for everyone at the three City-state Inns, and then work on an add on for Private Rooms which adds a balcony (Inns) or green house (FC house) to allow some Gardening to be done there.
If they were smart, Private Rooms never would have been tied to FC houses. If they're learning, they'll get at least half of that in for 2.4. If everyone could have what is effectively half a small house, then I'd be perfectly fine with the actual housing market being a competitive scene for "I have too much Gil" d*ck waving.
Give us a quest that turns our Inns to our on personal condos. We are the Warriros of Light, in each respective city-state, that they have remodel our inn rooms to our own personal housing. (for a handsome fee of course)

If they could limit rolling back to refunding gil and unbinding items (perhaps to temporarily store them with an NPC)... that should be doable. But considering how long it took them to allow individuals to buy plots that were meant for FCs... I wouldn't hold my breath.
Converting Inn Rooms into something a little bigger and customisable, at the very least - to be frank, I can't see why this hasn't been implemented together with the original implementation of housing (for FCs). It's instanced, it could as well have an item limit on it, it would allow for gil sinks (especially if they were separate ones in the three city states, as per logic)... it's just painfully straightforward, in my opinion.
And for the record about the whole rollback-idea... the angry, pissed-off, disgruntled and disappointed mob already exists.
The fans are also to blame too, this isn't a one-sided blame battle.
As the saying goes, the more you anticipate the harder you're going to fall; or something along those lines.
Like I am one those people who were expecting housing to be 500k~1m. I surely anticipated personal housing, but I didn't pay that much attention to it. More like I didn't know 2.38 would release personal housing until the day of the update.
Sure everyone has the right to do what they want, whether that be expecting their dream housing reality or believing something that was said in 2013 to hold true until now.
But you should never really over anticipate something setting your expectations high everyday. It's only going to hit you hard, cos nothing and I mean nothing ever holds 100% of your expectations; you never get what you desire. You are only letting yourself down in the end.
