wait i did read well, upgrade server is the last resort? we are not on a solo game on console... we are on a mmorpg!!! you can't have the server limitated the game in anyway, it's a huge flaws in the thinking! thy can add as much ward than they want! it will never be enough! some server have more of 5000 player on them. but let's do some math!
let's say that only 1000 person will buy a house, you have 30 plot per ward. you will need 33 ward only for them (33.3333....), but here the trouble, FC too need to use this ward. and like said you have some server overpopulated with more of 5000 player! (meaning they will need to add 168 ward for cover all this person, without count the fc!) seriously! you don't need to have make huge study for see the trouble with them design!
as the server stand now, it's IMPOSSIBLE to offer enough plot for every player of the game with the design of the ward!
only two solution:
1) upgrade the server, it will serve too later for the futur add of feature for the game. since more content will be release more it will be urgent to upgrade the server.
2) change the whole idea behind the personal housing! the ward is enough for the FC, but must'nt used for the personal housing, too much people per server for make it viable!
it was easier to copy the idea behind wildstar housing, by making house a whole instance, that player can or not open to every one.
even if i think... that the two solution must be done!!!!

That will most likely be a cutscene like our current airships (I miss chillin on ferries/airships). A nice big honking menu that says "Where would you like to go?".
They keep making us promises they can't deliver. If they can't make enough homes for everyone this way...then find a way to make players happy. Stop delivering half assed content
I think their problem still is and will be, that they never thought so many ppl would play that game. But they still are trying to deliver things that they planned, but down the way they realise they cant... But thats the point where they need to rethink their plans, what is managable and what not, instead of trying to squeez it trough at any cost.
I think they expanded on 1.0's structure. Of course they upgraded it, but the fundamentals remain the same. This means it's not a 2013 thing, more like 2008-2009 hence the PS3 as one of its platforms. I want to add that this console launched in 2006...
Upgrades can only bring you so far and it looks like they have a hard time developping new stuff in terms of open world.
I would also like to point out that there is still too much lag. This is another server/client side story which has been discussed enough times already. Yes, the game is perfectly playable especially when you compare it to last year. However, play another MMO for an hour, then log back in.. Again, not gamebraking at all. Just a tad sad it's not optimal when I believe they have a great number of subs.
They are doing a fine job and I hope we will see some changes to recources and what not. They have my support.
IDK how you make one of the most graphically-pleasing MMOs on the market with great player balance and race/class choices, be a big-name company such as SE and not expect your game to be popular that just blows my mind.I think their problem still is and will be, that they never thought so many ppl would play that game. But they still are trying to deliver things that they planned, but down the way they realise they cant... But thats the point where they need to rethink their plans, what is managable and what not, instead of trying to squeez it trough at any cost.
Also how they expected hunts to not be a zerg fest blows my mind.
And how they thought super limited housing would work for their whole player base blows my mind.
SE, gg, mind=blown
I think you are correct and it seems SEs philosophy now is that eventually the number of players will drop and if we invest in more servers they will not be needed then so we will simply wait for people to quit. While that is true on some level, all games die, they are making it a self-fulfilling prophesy by pissing of the customers by being cheap. More players should to some degree translate into more money to invest in infrastructure but we have not seen much of that.I think their problem still is and will be, that they never thought so many ppl would play that game. But they still are trying to deliver things that they planned, but down the way they realise they cant... You can do playersearch ingame yourself, choose level 50, and count them!
Filter with jobs, or language, or location, whatever fits to not get over the 200 limit...
Add all your results and you get the number of ACTIVE players on your server at that time, its not so hard.
