Yea I saw that option, but I didn't know what it was for? Does it determine if when you engage you will be locked on or not?

I am used to engaging by hitting the #1 basic attack. I put heavy swing on there, and when I engage that way, the mob does not get claimed, but I hit him and I start TP bleed while he beats me up. Not until the first auto attack does he get claimed. So the way to fight mobs is to get your weapon out, run up to them and wait 2.9 seconds (or more) for AA to kick in?? dumb! I use a gamepad btw.

    DUMB I SAY!

I dislike how if I target an enemy instead of myself and cast a buff or cure it initiates the auto-attack feature. Then again, I hate FF11 and dislike auto-attack in general. I feel more removed from the game, now. I wish there were an option to turn off this awful crap. 10 seconds is a ridiculous time delay as well. Perhaps square can also make us run slower while they are at it.

1.17 played far better combat-wise. It felt like I was actually in control of my character.

It's horrible. As OP said, + you cant engage in passive mode. You need F key first all time. For now it looks like a semi-step backward, it needs more than this.

It also needs to be able engage while in passive mode - auto mode swap.

Pre 1.18 is like a dead puppy now....it was young, fun, immature, and made us feel like we were truly alive but now we have to move on and remember that there are greater things in life than puppies =(.
