Because it isn't possible to have a plot for every single person that wants one, what is so hard to understand about that? it's like a residence in real life that only has 10 houses, but 200 people want to live there. It's just not going to happen. you come first you get it 1st.

No, it's not possible to have a plot for every single person *that's implemented in a permanent always-running region like the FC housing wards.* That's why it's a stupid place to try to put individual housing. An individual house is something that should only exist when the player is there. Whenever they're logged out or in another area of the game it should close the instance and release that server space for other people. With that implementation, it's perfectly possible to give every single player their own house plot, because only a small percent of them would be active at any given time. (At most, it might require doing a bit of the server upgrades that they already need anyway.)

From what Ive seen on the issue at hand, seems like the best way to remedy this is to have instanced housing, similar to FFXI's Mog House, or RIFT's housing. That way we can also control who gets to enter and who doesn't.

me i will resume the trouble:
Final Fantasy 14: a realms reborn it's a mmorpg using the subscription model. meaning every player in the game (outside the trial version) are paying a sub for have acces to the game. not only a small part, but the "whole" game.
recently, some add on the game by the dev. team are made for a small portion of this player base. meaning, only a small part of each server can really have acces to that feature in the optimum condition (hunt and housing are a very good example).

however, like said before, we are in a subscription model, where everyone pay for get acces to the wholegame. when a feature, can't be done by most of the server... not because of the skill or time for the player, but because of real limitation placed by the dev. team... we have a trouble. do they make the game only for 1-2% of the playerbase? do that means that the other part 98-99% of the playerbase, must pay the same sub that this elite for not get acces to some feature?

now, it's the time for the whole community to stand and say, with one voice: "all the playerbase deserve to have acces to the whole game! no more feature that are aimed to a small number of the community!"
if they add a feature, they must make sure that every one have acces to it... not only the first one... but everyone that pay the sub for get acces to the game.

the fact to add the personal housing while using the FC ward for it... will only lead to the fact that a small purcentage of the community will get acces to it! no escuse are valid at this point! it's a very grave error from them part. they have make us wait 9 month, promise use stuff... for after all simply reuse the residential ward, with the same price and the same trouble that already exist... i means not enough plot for every FC.

no need to debate or say they have them reason... none of them are valid when they add a feature that leave more of 98% of the player base out of it! stop to try to justify what can't be justify... and change this. work on a true personal housing system and remove the personal housing from the residential ward. for the one that have already purchase house, reimburse them buy. the residential ward must stay for the FC.

make a new system for the personal housing, and more important, change the server now!

If SE comes out and says "Due to player feedback, we decided to upgrade our server infrastructure to allow EVERY PERSON a house that wants one and prices will be adjusted accordingly. We will apply the upgrade when we release 2.4. However due to the scope of the upgrade and having to migrate all player data to the new servers, service will be unavailable for one week. Rest assured, you will not be charged for this downtime, your subscription will be reactivated at the end of the upgrade. We apologize for any inconvenience!"

Now, I could live with that. That will even restore a little bit of faith in SE. Sure, having the game down for a week would suck, but it'll be worth it for upgraded servers. (PS. I have no idea how long this would take).

Since my post got deleted, I will respond in another, more user friendly way. This response from Yoshi is nothing more than slicing the bologna, and he is really slicing it thick. I have been waiting for personal housing to arrive since 1.0, and now when it FINALLY does, years later, I still can't own a private residence since all reasonable housing was gobbled up 8 mins after this patch went live. Way to go dev team. Well I spoke my peace.

it's called common sense and limited resources, in real life there are limits, even in a video game limits apply. i guess you're not the only person who has trouble understanding that. or there are blind people, whichever.

I also guess some people fully understand how servers work to know that can be easily done.

But these limits are ones that SE choose to create by implementing a server-intensive design. If they don't have the servers for this type of implementation, then they shouldn't have used this type of implementation. There are plenty of other ways they could have implemented personal housing that would have made it available to everyone.
