You have nothing to say because your reading comprehension prevents you from realizing I am hardly playing white knight.Oh excuse me miss white knight of SE. Forgive me for the 850k misunderstanding.Doesn't even matter- if you want to defend the fact that they said one thing and totally did another and it poor design of how personal housing was even brought in to this game. So be it. I have nothing more to say to you with that attitude of yours.
I just joined the fray myself but I have yet to see any demands that Yoshi-P resign, be flogged, or burned at the stake. I dont deny that some internet tool somewhere has said or will say something like that but almost every post I have read in the last few hours have players expressing their disappointment. At worst insulting him and the devs. OP makes it sound like YoshiP has become the Zoe Quinn of the FFXIV forums when I have yet to see one post go anywhere near that far.

Everyone stomping their feet about housing and attacking the devs.

In Japan, a big enough public blunder will scuttle your career for life, and they take this stuff way more seriously than we do when it comes to Honor and saving face.
Its not a US company, and they play by a whole different set of rules.

Seeing as you only wanted to attack me over a misunderstanding hardly says anything about my reading comprehension. You came ball blazing in here attacking over the "850k" thing. Defending the fact that SE lied either way. You also didn't want to quote the rest of what I said which was that, a lie is a lie regardless. Therefore, go on and keep being the little white knight. Then again, you are right. I only did read the first few lines of your post. Maybe if you'd kept that poor attitude in check, I'd read the whole thing.

Square just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase FFXIV for either system, nor will they purchase any of Square's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.
Square, publicly apologize and fix housing or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Well, as I have said and Jeykama eluded to, no one ever said SQUAT to the players. We asked about Private housing since PRIOR to FC Housing. As someone else mentioned, FC housing was the "solution" to Private Housing until PH could be implemented. now, that's not entirely true. FC Housing was also supposed to be a place where we would be able to make Airships and do all this other, grandiose stuff. That hasn't come to fruition either.
But with PH, we have asked, and asked, and asked and whined, and wrote etc etc etc about info. We got NAFA. Zilch. Zero. Nothing! The speculation happened because of one question. Someone BLINDLY stabbing a Dev to PLEASE, for the love of the TWELVE, give us an answer? Anything?! We got it. It was a no. And a number in the question was used as a hopeful benchmark that was WOEFULLY wrong and off the mark. But, if the damn Devs, or SE or Yoshi could have given us info, a lot of people would be less pissed. I would have rather of like to have known at LEAST the price points of said housing. I could have purchased an FC house well before this fiasco, across or at least in the same ward as our FC house for HALF the 4 mil being asked on my Legacy Server. Now, instead, I have nothing. OH! Wait. I do have something. Bitterness. /glare (<please implement THIS as a new emote kthx)
Also, Noni? This wasn't directed at you. Just adding my own personal thoughts into it. ;-) We all or apparently ALL thought 850k was going to be the average. I expected up to 10 mil for the largest houses but damn.

The original sin, in all its glory. Note the section on personal housing being far more affordable than FC housing and how it is reiterated as a major takeaway from his response.

I'm in love with this thread
Oh ... dam. I figured they'd be a lot nicer over there. Didnt really consider the nihonjins to be raging internet nerds like the western world, lol.I believe it was on the Japanese forums someone said they were demanding his resignation.
