I am going to log in and go buy a house, near the ocean. Luckily I'm on Mateus (I moved from Durandal) so I'm saving gil right there. I'm all vocal out from house pricing, I lost all faith in SE when FC housing game out and they expected people to put down 640m gil so I had no illusions that they would drop the ball again. Also, no need to rush, Mateus has lots of plots free already, the 2 extra wards won't make much of a difference.

On legacy servers which have a lot more gil in the economy 5m seems really cheap even for the most expensive small house. You can use the garden and grow stuff like onions for chocobos which sell for 1.5m and easily make back your money.

That's not how the economy works, now that individual people are able to buy houses don't expect gardening to remain profitable.

Just so you know you need a free company rank 6 to buy a Plot for a house.

Plots in the residential districts will now be available for purchase by individual buyers.
Leaders and members of free companies that already own estates can also choose to purchase plots as individuals.

where in there does it say your FC has to be rank 6? that requirement is only if your FC is buying a house not if you are

I personally didn't care about housing at the FC stage. I saw it as nothing but a vanity item, with no purpose rather than a decorating minigame. Saying that, I thought it was cute. Just not worth a ridiculous amount of gil in my mind. Respect to people that want to do it, and I'll admire other houses from time to time. However! I became interested in it because of gardening / chocobo raising, which are excellent ways to make money and do overworld content like alex maps more reliably respectively. Then I saw the price.

I can actually afford a small house in a crappy area on a legacy server, but nah. I'm not paying that, because personally I don't want to throw my gil at SE as positive reinforcement for this.

Not sure whether to take the 'new' in that quote to include plots that have already been devalued or only 'new' plots after a plot has been abandoned.

We'll know soon. But it occurs to me that if -all- available plots are going up to these prices then it's not just a problem for individual houses. I know a few FCs that have been saving up for FC houses and this will mess them up too.

I intended to.

But Sargatanas' housing wards have been full for months. There are entire FCs who want to experience housing content and haven't yet been able to. I could not justify buying an identical house to the one my FC owns for essentially an extra garden plot (which I very much do want) if it meant blocking the content to entire groups of other players.

I'll wait until the weekend and get one then, as by then presumably any FCs that were desperate will have made the purchase.

Of course, i fully expect both Wards in all three zones to be sold out within an hour of servers going back up today.

I am sure, when I come home from work, most small Houses on Ragnarok will be sold out already. Not having the money (or willing to invest so much) for a medium house, no I will probably not get one. And I am pissed because they made us wait so long and then come up with moon prices again, especially after the 1st debacle when FC housing came out. History repeating and of course, a bad part of the History is repeating here.

When I remember all the complaints about the prices and we talked about an FC house back then where a whole guild could work together and now similiar prices for single players?

SE sold a lot more copies than they could have ever imagined. 2 million players, big success, big money. But reinvestments in Servers? Nope. Continue with the old program like only 100.000 players are on their Worlds. Please SE, be at least honest and admit what's going on here and why you install such absurd requirements again.

It is all about Server costs and nothing else why we have these moon prices. Truth is (as far as I can guess), their servers wouldn't be able to deal with everybody having a personal house. Their infrastructure just doesn't seem to be good enough for it. And that's something I cannot accept when I read how pleasantly suprised they are about the unexpected amount of players they have on monthly subscriptions. What do you do with the extra and unexpected money? I do not see any news about hiring more programmers or more Servers. I am sure some CEO's are happy now but to hell with them.

I slowly get sick about their way to release something where you either have to wait for a long time to use it or get so demotivated that you don't care about it anymore.

Unfortunately I had to leave for work before servers went up (really wish they would have been up on time), I will buy one if any are left, but I doubt there will be.
