There's this from several months ago: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...34#post2110434
But it only says they were "looking into it," which, by this point, you can translate as "We're not going to deliver on it because we can't find a way to make it work - or server limitations" since they haven't implemented it yet.
I don't really care what your opinion on pricing is, whether or not you think players should "get gud" and learn how to make money.
You should be upset you were lied to. I don't care who you are. This is a blatant lie and regardless of whether or not you want a personal house or whatever, you - the customer- was lied to.
They could have warned us way before the patch this was going to happen. They didn't. Instead they purposefully mislead us about it, let people believe they could stop saving around 2.5 million and told us the exact opposite of what they were doing.
I love this game. Usually when people complain I wave them off. I run an FC on Balmung that has a Large Mansion in Lavender Beds. I personally have enough for a personal house.
I'm livid they lied to us. Flat out.
And you should be, too.
whoops didn't mean to quote!I don't really care what your opinion on pricing is, whether or not you think players should "get gud" and learn how to make money.

^ This is absolutely true , we can talk about the prices , but the fact is SE Sucker punched us , misled, lied, and upset allot of players on this.

I knew houses would be more on my server from the start, but to be the exact same as FC housing is ridiculous. Thought that at most the larges (if there would be size differences for personal housing) would be around 20mil at the start on Excalibur....

Unlike other instances, this is one of the few situations where people should step back and look at the logistics of things; stomping your feet that you were "lied" to is nowhere near as important as asking the most important questions, "what happened?" and "why?".
As said before in this thread, this wasn't done to spite the playerbase or alienate them. I can come up with a couple of roadblocks the devs encountered and despite the roadblocks they released this because I guess they felt something is better than nothing at all.The housing structure probably was the biggest roadblock, because as I mentioned, there's no limit and currently no way for them to split pricing between what a FC pays vs what an individual player pays. An individual player buying a large plot at a fraction of the price a FC would have to pay would be stupidly unfair to the FC, for example.
Server load is probably an issue as well, since you have actual wards with real estate (and thus limited physical world space) instead of the door that takes you to your moghouse in FFXI, where a thousand players could enter and have their own room without taking up any world space.
Yes, chances are they could be trying to remove gil from the game using this.
At this point I wouldn't call it a "lie" so much as "Yoshida said something, found it was unfeasible or did something to some aspect of game balance and had to alter the deal". The only thing I can even hope to chide Yoshida for is the fact that he did not come out and explain the situation with the prices. I doubt the shitstorm would have gotten this big if he went out and said "we looked at planned prices for housing and realized it wasn't feasible and/or screwed the some aspect of the economy" from the get go.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
