Double the wards and count. You will notice even in 2.4 not even a fraction of the player base has a chance. Also this preplanned response from Yoshi shows they knew this was going to be bad.
The fact is we were all lied to by the Dev team and we swallowed it for months on end thinking something was being created. They did nothing at all in the months leading up to this and the devs deserve every bit of backlash they get.
Also in Yoshi's post he mentions a housing team and my response is, you had ONE job.....

Seriously? I paid for most of my free company's Medium house. In total, over 20 million gil of my personal funds went into it; the rest was scraped together from various members. I'm sitting on around 14million gil again, even with the fact that I've been leveling and farming EX primals and Coil for the past few weeks instead of sitting and crafting all day. I'm not a Legacy player, either - I started in 2.1. It's not hard to make money in this game at all.

I don't think it's the limited space people are complaining about so much as the 87 million gil price tag.

I agree that the price tag is ludicrously high. My FC had to get creative with Gil making just to make enough for a small house. It took allot of teamwork to make the gil needed. Personally, I think that is exactly what the developers wanted (you cheeky devs you!) Encourage FCs to work together and grow closer.

I could not AGREE MORE with this statement. The fact that people can still defend SE after what seems like a huge betrayal to their fan base just baffles my mind. Add to that the fact that Yoshida made this ridiculous statement: "Some of you may be thinking it would have been better to simply wait until the release of Patch 2.4 instead of adding just a couple of housing wards, but please understand that we would like to do our utmost to ensure that new land is opened up as soon as possible, even if that means adding only a small number.", just shows how out of touch with FFXIV's fanbase he really is as well as seems quite unprofessional. Almost every thread raging about this topic has posts from players stating that they would have much preferred that SE wait until they could implement a PROPER housing system that all could enjoy at one time, rather than this piddly sh*t of two wards per server now, and more later.

We didn't miss it. Availability and pricing isn't even the issue for me personally. They literally delayed something that was already there since 2.1 and 2.2, and went "Voila, fools: 'PERSONAL HOUSING!'" Adding onto that, it's now a competition between FCs and the individual player.

The reason why you manage to "make gil" easily is because not a whole lot of ppl are doing what you and some others are doing.

Yup, making money like they do is limited. If EVERYONE was doing it, the wealth would be more evenly spread, and those rich people would not be nearly as rich.

I could afford the houses, but I'm not sure if I wanted one. I did nothing in my FC personal room, and most of the time I just hang around the FC house area and MB square which is dominated by our FC members.

A few of my FC mates could probably buy off a large house right off the bat but... IDK, doesn't seem to see a use of it. Maybe that's because I am used to see everyone in the FC at the FC house and at the square outside the house with the MB where everyone chats and craft.

Here's the kicker in that note:

As stated in the patch notes for Patch 2.38, the plots of land available for purchase in the housing areas will be the same for both Free Company and individual buyers. The introduction of housing plots in the future will also follow this structure.

Personal and Free Company housing will share the SAME plots, future wards will follow the SAME structure. The SAME pricing if this follows true then. People are upset because they've been lied to here. And no matter HOW many wards they release there is and always will be a shortage on areas for housing.

In the future, we plan to be able to double the total land for all existing housing wards, including the two new wards, in Patch 2.4 with the system changes that we are currently working on.
(Basically, the number of wards available now will be doubled in Patch 2.4).

This means nothing, sorry but it doesn't. Come patch 2.4 even if the wards are doubled there's still the high cost, there's still the limited space. People who want their own home will still need to compete with Free Companies who want one. The current structure they're going with is the wrong answer, yet clearly they're going this way regardless. All they're going to be doing is trying to rework the system so they can squeeze in a few more wards, a few more areas. Essentially it's the band-aid technique all over again.

I don't mean to belittle the guy here, because I still think Yoshi-P is a good man, but has he really played an MMO before as he so claims? Many of his and his team's design choices in the last year have me starting to question if he was the right guy to bring this game back to life. He's done a fantastic job I won't question that but maybe they need someone else at the helm to help him out... Not replace him, but help him steer this thing.

Ah. So you (an established crafter) can't afford anything above a small either. *nods*

Please do remember different servers have different economies. For example, One server sells IV materia for 700k ... My server it is 100-180k.
Yet we are in the same pricing group (highest).
