Hm, i115 Nexus upgrade has me worried for Third Coil.

In just a few hours, you'll be able to start the trial of upgrading your i110 Novus to an i110 Nexus. But..

Only a 5 item level increase? That has me worried! But only because it makes me wonder what they plan to make the item level of the gear that drops from Third Coil. Will the new coil armor be i115 too with a i120 weapon? I'm not sure how I would feel about that.

Will the rest of the game just slowly progress at increments of 5s? What are everyone else's thoughts on this?

no it will be like everything else i130 will be max (besides i135 coil wep) if gear is like 2.2 the tome gear will be i120

I'm expecting another step that will increase the ilvl of your Relic to i120 around the 2.4 release. That's just my guess, though. Truthfully, I'm a little disappointed that we only received 5 ilvl on our relic, instead of 10.

These weapons were ALWAYS intended to be a 'catch-up'.

They will always be underpowered compared to that of the next set of "top-tier" raiding weapons, as that's the development teams ideal.


Why would they ever make these weapons equal to the top-tier or even close to that, it almost defeats the purpose of doing the raid, the idea being "I've completed the final stretch of this raid content, and received my powerful weapon as a reward".

That's the general idea, that's how it's always going to be.

Well, considering it sounds like this i115 upgrade will be more than just an ilevel bump, there are going to be a lot of people who have better weapons than the HA stuff as they have better secondary stats melded. A i115 Stardust Rod Nexus with SSPD/DET will be better than the HA Staff with SSPD/CRIT.

The power creep is already so much... Most upgrades are just minor anyway... so easily obtained as it is. You can get full i110 without stepping into coil, then you go to coil and get side grades, maybe better stats....

If third coil is only a 5 ilvl bump, then I'd almost say it's a good thing... we have gear with stats for level 110 characters already... Our characters are only lvl 50... we are so far ahead... When we reach lvl60 we will be wearing level 150 armor most likely at this current rate.

That means the "power creep" is already going to be around a factor of X3. It started with you wearing the same level gear while leveling...

If you look at a Novus i110 and a HA i115 the difference in power is as substantial as the difference between an animus i100 and a novus i110 (+2 WD) which means that the differences in power this time around from 110 to 120 will probably be +3 or more in WD with 2.4 and beyond.
