In lower level, solo content, the cooldown assists in survivability, and it is a cross class skill for other classes. It's never needed in raid content because at any point a dps tanks a boss they will die regardless of the 13 parry they stuck on their novus. Out in the open world a person with novus is so overgeared they can kill any level 50 mob in 2-3 hits making parry a completely redundant skill. For how intense the dps checks are in endgame putting defensive stats on a dps is just a waste.
On a similar note I was pondering since Novus is meant to be the start of a long term increase in weapons is it a good idea to balance out Skill speed and Critical hit since they both offer opposite returns (every extra SS is worth greater than the last and every extra Crit is worth less than the last) Not to mention Yoshi mentioning that SS is supposed to be more important in future. Of Course that is secondary to Determination as as far as I am aware that is strictly a linear buff to DPS for most jobs. Also I cant quite decide wether to add accuracy or not as it would only be there to cover the gaps in Acc following a new patch and would completely depend on the newest gear that becomes available. I would hate to not have accuracy on my weapon to find out that the total gear combination in a future patch keeps me below the accuracy needed to hit something.
Just wanted to comment that it (keen flurry) has some situational uses in raids, but not enough to put it on a weapon of course![]()
Melee with too much skill speed suffer TP issues in extended encounters.
Outside of t8, there should be no issues with TP because of pauses in the fight (t7 & 9) or the fight being too short (t6).
The only thing that really irks me with SS on DRG is it fucking up Life Surge's timer. Q_Q
