Ideas on how they can fix these horrible PvP queues?

Given the queues, how is it reasonably possible to participate in PVP at all? I'd love to work on gaining ranks but waiting 30 minutes or so each match has made that impossible. Is there something I'm not understanding about this system? Do I need to find a PVP linkshell/free company? Is there anything I can do to make PVP not so completely inaccessible?

really glad you used the word "inaccessible" because that's exactly what this all is. whether you're rank 1 or rank 40, a system designed for balance just makes the game almost completely inaccessible.

but no, there's nothing you are misunderstanding. if you can find a linkshell or fc that pvps almost exclusively you can get into some really consistent matches, but our server, which has been long reputed to have the best pvp community around, has really died out as of late. so despite us having several pvp ls's, we really struggle to get something going without other servers joining in. we may have more players ready to fight night in and night out, but 6/8 players is still two short of a game. and waiting 3 hours to fill those spots doesn't make it any game at all.

Adders queue used to be pretty good in my DC so close to rank 38 but in the last week or 2 the content has become such a chore to try to get involved in. Simply it is preventing me enjoying a part of content i used to enjoy.
How to solve it? incentive is a good start.
Removing GC restrictions.
Allowing Data clusters to queue up with other clusters, the tech is there in some other MMOs so surely it could be implemented here in some fashion? (im not tech expert)

had several 1-hour long queues in the afternoon when the weekend started. before that i had another 3-hour long queue while working that went nowhere.

and had someone else queuing at same time as me go 280 minutes and still not get a queue during prime time hours.

They really need a 15 minute map such as a CTF style mode. The more alternatives to the wolf's den, the more pvp will appeal to the general population; sparking greater interest to queue spam for rank.

Yeah im at R35 and i have been for like two weeks. I just cant bring myself to wait for 20+ minutes in a soloque and 40+ minutes in a party.

Slap ALL Materia on the PvP Materia merchant, or at least all combat Materia. Gives plenty of reason to PvP for Wolf Marks, and gives that poor NPC a bit of love, since he sure as hell must feel neglected now that Fury's Anthem is gone.

Yes, though the cost would need to be balanced out. Given how plentiful Marks are now, I wouldn't be disappointed with 10,000 for one tIV.

They already gave us Mythos and Sol with Frontlines, so depending how it is priced, I don't see much problem with adding Materia to the list; it's either an extra cash flow for PvPers, or a (vastly superior) alternative to SBing for people upgrading their Relics.

This is one of the best ideas ive ever heard. As long as they make the Tier IV super expensive as to not crash the market.
