Aye, I agree the long GCD just makes everything sluggish. Run speed is a lot slower as well. Mounts are slower. In fact, everything in the game is just a lot slower... except for boss abilities. You better predict those are coming and get out of the way.
I'd like a shorter GCD as well. This idea that playstation players wouldn't be able to handle it is a little insulting. I use the xbox controller every now and again and most of the time feel like I'm running at half the speed and reaction I did when playing XI.

THEN
Let me have some of what you're having.

Did you see my badge? I'm a professional!

Glad to see the OP has taken a stand and has quit..I mean..still...playing? Well aren't you just a little Janay Palmer..staying in something that treats you oh so bad.
Class / Job - the more complicated you try to make things the more factors you have to worry about breaking. Too simple people get bored..too difficult that requires a degree to master will thin out the players too. Unless you'd like to cover their losses so you can have your perfect system.
Combat - Yes yes..we all miss skillchains and MB. and I'm sure we all miss the guy in the PT who wasn't paying attention that just weaponskilled and messed it up for you. We have "self" skill chains in a sense with these combos. The pace and way the way things are now it wouldn't be useful to have skillchains, melees would stand in aoe's just to get it off and die, then rage..because no one in this game likes to wait.
Zodiac Weapons - Don't do it..go take on Turn 9. Don't like turn 9? do..hunts. Those are mindless, get the ilv110 weapon and spam some ST. Don't like any of those options? ...I dunno..overthrow Yoshi and become the ruler yourself!
Raiding - A lot of wipes happen because people rush or don't do things correctly the first time. Once you get the mechanics down and aren't pushing to shave a few minutes off a run because lets face it you got time on your hands..you're playing this game. Take some patience and relax..do things right even if it means a bit slower and you're okay. I'm not going to go into detail because it starts a riot. I'm a very defensive player so I don't mind taking this slow / easy and get a win.
Weekly Lockouts - It's the players who they don't want to charge others for to complete, sure no way to stop it 100% but this is their answer to it so far. Does it hurt a bit? Sure, I guess their other option is for those who have a win, take that week sometime and try to take others through it with you. But people opt to take their A - team in and get through it. This isn't the best way to go about this but, what can you do?
Everything in this game is a grind, it's just a matter of which grinding path fits your life. Real reason to quit this game? The people. I'm sure after I hit save I can pop over somewhere and read about how someone is flat out nasty to others. I've seen some horrible things typed to people of what they would do to them, their children, their pets, families etc...you get on the game to have fun, not to hear what some guy who is raging wishes the worst on your wife who is due with your child in the next few weeks or what they'd do in detail to your family if you can't keep hate or get your dps past a certain number.

Another reason is how the community and some fanboys over reacted with these kind of topics, with people like the OP, and I saw these people in some first pages.
What are you talking about? There's absolutely nothing contradictory in my statements. Boss ability speed is quick, player ability speed is slow. Hence, half the reaction time. Let me clarify a little.
When playing XI, I would quickly tap the bumper to open my macro palette, move to the macro i needed and press it. Queue up the next spell, do the same thing, but the only thing I was waiting for was the spell's cooldown, not a global cooldown. So I could cast a different spell or a different level of spell immediately, and often this was a standard strategy.
Here, I am waiting to cast my next ability no matter what. That is why it feels much slower. The comparison to boss ground poo was to illustrate that SE doesn't have an issue with making a mechanic require less than a second of reaction time, but our GCD has to be over 2 seconds.
Oh but there is validity to it and you know it. There are plenty of overly dramatic posts and threads on this forum. The thing is you just refuse to acknowledge it because these posts do not meet your own criterias about what's histrionic, criterias that have been shown in this thread to be biased.
Plenty of people have careers, families, a social life and actually do raids. You just refuse to partake in it for your own personal reasons and you're using the old excuse of "Having a life" to justify it, an excuse that hasn't had any merits for years.
There is a reason why the absolute best gear from the raids and yet, even after acting all high and mighty, you just don't seem to get it.
