Hard to believe and impossible
I have a question is that a necessity to do fates all day long ?...850h that makes 35 days 24/24 ..nobody can do that even should do that. Now 850h can be done over months no?..it remains 850h yeah...taken into account that I did 15 days non stop around 5-8h per day fates....and I got none in my case it would be 120h (taking 8h for the sake of it) of fates without success...so yes I do believe the OP because well based on my experience (I stopped after that) I got none.
On the contrary, I have 3 now of which 2 the same just by doing random fates that I happen to find on my way to something else...
To OP there is no point in saying anything about atmas, they arennot worth teh time invested, and not worth the aggravation...just find another way to get the weapon and you will be far better off then chasing something that visibly, like me you are not that lucky to get.

Just like for OP, saying hours or days spent means nothing. Give us real numbers big boy, amount of fates done, no one can over-exaggerate those as the numbers are provided in game.My first set of atmas took a couple of days and my second set of atmas feels like it may have taken a couple days more.
By day, I refer to just a few hours on and off which is what I am assuming that not just OP is doing but just about everyone that is complaining on the forums and over exaggerating it.
The 2.2 patch came out on the 26th of March and i managed to get my Curtana & Holy Shield Atma on the 15th of April. Over the course of those 20 days, i tackled roughly 500 Fates (started with the FATE counter just over 800 and ending just over the 1300 FATE's) in order to get the 12 Atma's for my Paladin Relic. I've spent about 22 hours of farming FATE's within those 20 days, making it about 25 FATE's a day with an average of a little over an hour spent of FATE grinding.
That would mean that i had to do a FATE every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes.
If the OP would've done the same (doing a FATE every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes), then his FATE count would've skyrocketed well over 17.000 FATE's. Hehe... (^_^; )

I am at 1439 Fates right now.
Central Shroud I did 3 days in a row daily 50 fates for my atma to drop, currently East Shroud I am on day 3; Day 1 60 Fates, Day 2: 50 Fates Day 3 already 20 no drop
I got the 1000 Fate achievement while I was hunting Atma somewhere in La noscea I think it was my 8th Atma.
Some people get every Atma on their third Fate. I had someone who was doing nothing but fates in the same (correct zone) for a week straight 6 hours a day, and he did NOT get the Atma. Changed Zone because he was fed up of the Black shroud and got the next atma on fate 1. the next 3 atmas within the same day. Than he went back to this zone and after 3 days daily 6 hours he got that atma at last. To get tehe other he needed one month with daily 2-3 hours fate grinding. Yeah I was online while he was doing it.
It absolutely IS possible that for some it takes that long. Just 850 hours and not over 1000 fates seems a bit strange.
Hello I want to find out how long is alright to farm for 1 atma weapon!
I have used my Zenith Spaira since first day of Zodiarc quest came on game.
And I have spent 168 days just to farm 12 atma stones.
I have used many different strategies and as we'll japanese strategy.
I have worked out that every week I have spent 20+ hours on atma farming and I had 3 Holliday weeks when I spent on each 150+ hours on farming atma. In result it works out that I have spent approximately 850 hours just on atma farming.
I want to know what will happen if I want to aquiere second atma weapon?
Because that time and work what I have put in atma weapon is far Mach more than I have ever heard from anyone.
I don't know if anyone else touched on this but I just want to run the numbers. Assuming I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying that the three weeks you spent on Holiday you did nonstop farming. So out of the 168 hours a week, you were playing this game and running fates for 150 hours. If what you are saying is true, that leaves 2.5 hours to sleep every night that week. Those numbers are a little hard for me to believe. That's extreme, friend.
Than again, I did this during my wild FFXI times.
Vacation start: Turn on PC, launch FFXI at 5PM play till 6AM without turning off the pc or the game go to bed get up at 9AM go to the PC and play till 7AM get up at 10 AM and so on. I only left the PC for WC breaks and getting food. Those shut in days were awkward.
MAYBE he also included waiting for fates to pop and what not. in 22 Minutes right now I did 5 fates. Just did those I could do with chocobo out, because apart from me currently no one is in the Sylphlands, and some of those fates are nasty as bard. but even with doing the ones up there too, I would have done 7 instead of 5 fates.
For now, I just see it as annoying way to level my Chocobo, get FC points and get GC seals. 9k seals 1 Atma, 180k chocobo exp within 4 days of doing fates, and I did nothing else to obtain seals or chocobo exp those days.

That's why pure RNG content should have a ceiling on effort spent.
(In this case, number of FATE done.)
RNG totally means some will be golden with luck while other are doomed to stay in limbo.
A game is supposed to be fun, 850+ hours (even just 100 hours for 1 set) is NOT enjoyable especially when those who got theirs in rub it in.
Please devs, add a ceiling/failsafe to the amount of FATE done without receiving an atma. (20? 30? 50?)

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
