I'm not pointing fingers with that statement, I'm saying sincerely that it's unfortunate in those cases.

That said, generally speaking and in SE's defense during this whole ordeal...
    1. It hasn't been a year yet and, anyway, Yoshi P's "era" started only around 6 months ago.
    2. Yoshi was very clear from the beginning, when he took over, that it was going to take time for them to make the changes necessary and they've done all they can reasonably do under the circumstances.
    3. They vowed to communicate more with the community. They have been.
    4. They vowed to pay more attention to the community. They have been.
    5. They've implemented, or have confirmed future implementation, of a number of things players have been asking for.
    6. They haven't charged a dime for subscription fees for all this time.

Yes, "they should have had everything done correctly on launch". We know this. They know this. Everyone knows this. However, we're way beyond that now. Time has marched forward, SE's doing what Yoshi promised they were going to do... And so, at this point that there are still people making that statement seems a bit like bashing an easy target for the sake of bashing an easy target.

It's like having a friend who does something really screwed up, but swears to change their ways... You agree to give them the chance, and maintain the friendship. However, even months later, you're still bringing the event up to them, reminding them of what they did and trying to make them feel like crap for it. They've done and continue to do everything they said they would to make it up to you... but you just keep the abuse coming. There's something about that kind of behavior - in any context - that just seems cruel and abusive to me. Some kind of weird power trip.

FFXIV is a game. It's a form of entertainment. No one's life hangs in the balance of whether the game rebounds successfully or not. I just don't understand where some people's need to continue kicking away at SE is coming from at this point. I'm not a psychologist, but that kind of angry obsession just doesn't seem healthy to me.

I mean, if the state of FFXIV gets someone *that* upset, and they're *that* tired of waiting for things to turn around... Then move on and play something else! Dwelling on it and getting angry over it is obviously not going to make it happen any faster. It's not getting those doing it any satisfaction, obviously, since they're clearly still upset about it. So why stick around?

It's like someone standing with their hand over a fire, complaining that it's burning them and that the fire is taking too long to go out. Yet, instead of simply removing their hand 'til the fire's extinguished, they persist in keeping it there... just so they can keep complaining about it.

Anyway... that's just my two gil on the matter.

Is patch 1.18 the final straw? Hell no, patch 1.18 is just the beginning of major changes!

Like you said,is a game .A source of entertainment.
As such, the company alone is to blame for what goes wrong with it.If its not entertaining is the game´s fault , not the players.

Also, just fyi (no harm meant) i stooped playing a long time ago, because the game sucked hard.If today's patch revived it or not, i will tell you when servers are up.So far like i said i want to play again because it looks very promising. If game sucks still you can be sure you wont see me around here.

Again... I'm not blaming the players for went wrong with the game. That is 100% on SE.

Like I said... everyone knows SE screwed up, including SE. I don't think they could make it any clearer than they already have, through their words and their actions. It's unquestionable. The very situation they're in right now, completely revising entire portions of the game, with a different person in charge, etc... is the result of them screwing up.

I'm talking about how some people seem determined to remain pissed off at SE and continue to bring it up, instead of letting it go and moving on.

All I'm saying is... where the players are concerned... there's a point where one has to say "okay, time to move on and leave the past in the past", because continuing to be angry about something long after there's any point or purpose to it is just... well... pointless to me.

I mean, if some people insist on remaining pissed off even long after doing so has become pointless... then by all means... let them remain pissed. That's their business.

    I just don't get it.

I could move on ( take note im not really as angry as it might seem, i dont really have a lot of time to play to start with)if people could stop praising SE for thins that should be there since day 1.Credit were is due is something this game fanbase keeps forgetting.

    example(problably not the best example but it shows my point );

    !Seek party flag .

/fanbase WELLDONE! OMG YOU R GOD.

    /me wtf ? about time.

I speak for me personally since i dont know how others might feel/do/whatever.

I tend to find positive reinforcement is the most effective tactic when a team does something good. It encourages them to continue to do good and in time they will become faster and more effective in whatever task they need to accomplish. Yes they are slow right now and yes they're just implementing things that should have been there from the beginning, but they did them and without charging us a dime (save for the initial game purchase obviously) and that's something to be encouraged.

When they do something genuinely bad is when they need to be redirected.

This patch......... is R E A L L Y B A D They need to redirect back to pre-nerf ie: pre enforced subjugation of an entire job (Conjurer incase anyone has not been paying attention) ie: pre BAIT AND SWITCH ie: pre broken promise "this game will be enjoyable for those who prefer solo play as well as those who prefer the traditional party format" (taken verbatim from pre-release literature). This is not a personal problem, this is not a warrior class vs magic users class problem, and this is not about SE's everlasting soft-on for magic users and their endless line of unkept promises ...it's about them finally getting something SO right and then being pressured into making it WRONG. It has happened to me, to a LOT of us, one too many times.

I think you're confusing objective with subjective.
People have asked for more defined classes and that's what we got. CON is now the healer due to them previously having the healing spells and the "good" magic background.

You will understand when it affects you...until then best wishes

    I just don't get it.
I can easily see why you don't get it. 1. you're a noob. No disrespect. We all start off somewhere. I have a great deal of compassion for noobs and help them whenever I can. 2. Your job wasn't affected. You didn't put months and months into a job or jobs that were affected by change(s) you find terrifically frustrating...so you feel no need to vent on boards where you hope to find like minded people who share your concerns and may help you problem solve your way through the issues. 3. My guess is you didn't play FFXI for years and have the exact same kind of BS happen to you then too...which just adds to the frustration factor now. I don't speak for all female players of the game, but a lot of us are here for the esthetics of the game. We like how it looks. We like that our characters are characters not "toons" ...and that things look like what they are...not some kind of barfed up disney on LSD nightmare world <cough> WoW <cough> ...okay? We are loyal despite the many imperfections and inconsistencies of SE. Despite the fact that they patch together old servers from a central location rather than putting up servers around the globe for a global game the way that toonish game does. We put up with a LOT of subtle and not so subtle sexism (because that IS Japanese culture and we understand we're playing a Japanese game) because of the things we DO like about the game...though I really do miss our mog houses. God those were fun to decorate! Total waste of time and gil...but a blast anyway. Anyway...I'm just saying that you would understand more and WILL understand more when it happens to you...and if you stick with FF it eventually will. You don't play an SE game and not get effed over at some point. Imagine if we'd been paying for the game when the earthguakes hit. Did they learn from that and build in some redundancy? Course not. That would cost money. SE HATES to spend money. That's why they don't exactly have the cream of the crop for developers. That's why people are shocked into spontaneous outbursts of rampant cheering when the actually get one or two things logical into a patch. For the most part we just dread them like the onset of a plague, hold our collective breath (SE is BIG on doing things collectively, whether we want to or not after all!) and hope and/or pray for the best! Sometimes we get really pissed...for quite a long time. Eventually we leave because even the most patient among of us can only take so much pain in the name of pleasure.
