I remember that cut scene, he was surprised and enthralled that he could witness Bahamut free. Not the reaction I'd see from someone who wanted to lock him right back up.

True. But if not Lahabrea, who else? And I'm sure a living, city sized Dragon causes a massive ammount of aetheric disruption(a result of most of Lahabrea's doings) and also distracts people from Zodiarc. Anyway this is not a fact, just my interpretation.

In case you missed the Crockpot .gif above, the first part of my post was a joke. I really do not see Hildibrand being a factor in Lahabrea's machinations. Edda is possible but only if she can somehow make Avere's spirit a aetherial construct like Mog with her love alone

The first Coil was deactivated after clearing turn 5. Yet it shows it active in the end cutscene on turn 9 XD.

As you can see, 2 coils are active there, where there should only be 1, as we deactivated first after turn 5, 2nd after turn 9.

Maybe us deactivating the Coils is exactly what *they* (emphasis on the they as I don't really know who best to point fingers at right now XD) want us to do. As the Coils bind Bahamut, maybe we're releasing him, one Coil at a time. And maybe all of the bosses we're fighting are trying to prevent us from releasing him, not prevent us from stopping the resurrection process as we think they are now. Maybe we're the bad guys in all of this, and just don't know it yet :O

But when the other two Coils get deactivated won't that maybe release whatever regen form of Bahamut making him the true final boss of the Coil?

Actually, as you can see below, there were three active beams after the first BCoB, and if you look closely, you can see that there's one shut-off, which means there was 4 beams initially.

Those 2 beams after 2nd coil has always made me think there would be 4 total coils and they are lying about TCoB being the last. In 2.5 we will get final 4th coil along with 3rd and final crystal tower to tie up the story neatly before the expansion in spring. My theory at least. Oh 2.5.8 will have "Eureka" from CT

...Couldn't it just mean that you shut them off on your way out?

Three on - you leave T5 and shut one off.
Two on - you leave T9 and shut one off.
One on - you leave T13 and THANK YOU, GOODNIGHT.

I was wondering this myself, though I'm not sure we know enough to actually know. It still begs the question though, what is that fourth inactive beam connected to?

    ... Rivenroad?
