Hm, either you didn't quite get my point or I don't quite see what you're saying here.
With what I'm suggesting, you could attempt any turn of coil2 however many times your raid group is willing to do it, but only receive loot once per week. Assuming your raid group is willing to do the turns to get everyone a desired piece of gear as many times as necessary, then every person in the group will get one piece of gear per week. This works pretty much how Syrcus tower works now, but the restriction is shared across 4 instances. Working the same as ST would mean that unwanted loot will fall on the ground, all the time, but with a reasonable amount of effort, everyone that participates in a raid will be able to get one piece of gear every week.
(I'm rambling from here on) The current loot system, in theory, after a few weeks should have a relatively even spread of drops. However, as in the case you've described, it is possible for an entire class set to never have a singe piece of gear drop for a very long time. This is in general the reason people don't like the RNG deciding what locked-loot is dropped each week and often prefer tokens over actual gear for drops. On a large scale, the RNG should produce an even distribution; however, in a small sample (i.e. one person's raiding experience) any possible combination of drops can be seen, including ones that do not benefit the individual at all for a very long time. I'm not saying we should go to a purely token based system, but I would prefer a system that allows every individual to see some guaranteed benefit from raiding, even if in some cases it may take more effort.
Why is it a terrible idea? I think it's a much better solution to what we have in place now where you can only reliably complete 2nd Coil if you're in a capable enough static that has plenty of time on their hands to progress and stick together.
I'm not sure how the suggestion disadvantages you, you still get to have your prestigious server 1st's and carry gil no?
