a. Poor aesthetics (and yes, this is a subjective statement, sorry). And yes, we're only using a "fraction of the primal's power," but I recall another online final fantasy game where we only used a shard of the avatars' powers, and we all know what those look like.
*insert retort regarding the current game mechanics requiring smaller models*
For the record, I have never advocated giant Egi models that would blot out Dalamud, tearing the earth open every time I summoned Titan-Egi. Bottom line: I simply do not find the current models aesthetically pleasing.
b. Poor skill design. Unlike other jobs, summoners not only have to complete their job quests to use the primal-egis, they also have to complete the primal battles. Despite these additional requirements other jobs don't have to put up with, all we get for our trouble are the exact same skills as emerald and topaz carbuncle with a poor paint job and +10 potency to their skills. (I wish I was joking, but it really is just +10 and no other changes to Garuda and Titan-Egi). Sure Ifrit has a unique set of skills, but I'm not going to use stun when the Tank (and sometimes DPS) are rotating them and can't afford for enemies to build up resistance. And reflect damage would have been better served as a targeted buff.
The Egi we have now seem, for all intents and purposes, rushed and devoid of creativity. I only wish they had more time to develop FFXIV: ARR, so we might have had something more than the one-trick pony show we have going right now.
